Wow! A real blast from the past TWF. Great to see you active on here again. Did you ever get that Bluetack off the wall?

I love Phil Brown and i regard him as our greatest ever manager , what he achieved was unbelieveable and sometmes sadly overshadowed by a few of his antics. saying that i do think he is shot now and it wouldnt end well and it does remind me slightly of the Geordie who rang talksport on the day of the takeover and said his biggest wish now was for Keegan to return to fire them to unfinished business <laugh>

Stories like his, where a manager seems to be successful but then dramatically less successful later, just makes me think that a lot of external variables must make more of a difference than who the manager is. I find it hard to accept that he's just forgotten how to be a good manager and so I don't believe he couldn't ever do it again. At City it must've been a perfect mix of everything coming together at once to make us successful. The feel-good factor in the support and the City, people like Ashbee and Dawson dragging the team to success and so on.

PB had the BWFC roadmap to the PL. He knew what was needed.

I completely agree. Sometimes I think people massively under-estimate that sometimes a manager just fits into a situation and it works perfectly.

The best managers are the ones who can create that situation over and over again but there's been loads over the years where the lightning hasn't struck twice

Keegan might be a perfect example.

No it's not a whoosh, Torres might not be the best example but you know what I mean.

No coincidence that our results suffered after Sam Allardyce entered work again during Brownies tenure .. lost a lot of kudos for me towards the end with his constant putting people on the naughty step and wanting to go the races when senior pros knew we needed to get on the training pitch, as ever though these things tend to be conveniently forgotten as times passes.

In recent months, he has fallen out with so many first-team players that locals joke about the need for a "naughty step" at the training ground. (Guardian 7th Nov 2009)

It wasn't just us locals, Adam Pearson even said he wanted the 'naughty step' removed from the training ground.

Boateng was on it for sure, though he turned out to be a bit of dick anyway so GOOD. Frankly.

Folan and Fagan too, but then the counter argument is were they good enough for the PL anyway.

Also I didn’t seriously suggest Phil Brown returning, I just wanted to announce my return in the most TWF way possible.

A serious suggestion would be the Allams just turn over the keys to him and he becomes lifetime president.

Not to disappoint you all, but not a lot. Still going to City etc. just guess my opinions started lining up with every other City fan so I felt less need to share ‘em, how many “Allam Out” posts do we need etc. Then you just fall out the habit after a while I guess.

Just chugging along and then somehow hit my 30s. I was a bloody student when I started on here.

But nothing major to report in the last three years. I too, feel this return has been underwhelming.
