Well we will never know. I do know that Adkins left City under good terms with the owners. There was no bad feeling on either side. Lets not also forget that this club gave him a leg up back in to football management after Adkins had been out of the game for some considerable time.
It is worth noting though that whilst McCann had the majority of Nigel's sqad he did just as well until the rug was pulled that January window. As for underachieving we certainly didn't get value from the playing budget when we had the parachute payments. Whether you blame Adkins, Slutsky, Ehab or the recruitment is anyone's call but most likely a combination of all those factors.
Was that sung last night? Was over in the West Stand so may not have heard it, unlike the sacked in the morning which was sung in all quarters.
On the subject of chants.....can't help but notice that 'McCann out' ends up sounding just like 'Allam out' when sung by the masses, thinking we should be singing Grant out instead will be a lot clearer
The stuff we chant these days is ****e. Hardly anything in support of any players, mostly self-deprecating stuff that was funny 10 years ago when it started but has no impact now it's sung by every club most weeks ("how **** must you be") punctuated with the occasional, ironically half-hearted verse of "we go wild, wild, wild". Just another symptom of the malaise around the club I suppose.
Plenty if full throttle last night when the 'Sacked in the morning' chant started. People near me in E6 who find it an effort to applaud a goal were out of their seats, pointing and shouting as though there lives depended on it. If only we could muster that sort of collective noise in support of the team on the pitch?
Just look at the ingame comments on this thread last night. Full of spite, negativity and derision. And these people don't even have the excuse they feel cheated for the effort they put in to attend the game as they were all sat at home.
Can we discuss when we have the ball on the halfway line is our AMC our number 10 trying to get in behind like a ‘off the shoulder striker’. Leaving a huge gap in the middle of the pitch. Pass the ball to a team mate find space get the ball back. Football is a simple game. Was doing my nut in last night. And why does Greaves hopelessly smash it to Wilkes. That lazy arse will never win a header in his life.
Multiple causes I reckon. Modern football, the PL neutering of football culture, the Allams, the drift away by the glory fans of 2008-2016, the underwhelming results of the last 5 years etc. Wish I knew what could be done to reverse the tide but I think many 'fans' are in their sweet spot of moaning, carping and FIFA manager mentality, tbh.
Weve hardly ever sung songs about players Mcshane who else from our best years ever? A great player like Chester was for us. Nowt. Plenty of others didn’t get out either Think it’s bit of a myth this great support we had
Give it a week or so and Nigel will be at another ground holding up the club's scarf and kissing the badge. A clusterfuck of a summer once again. Looking back, the falling out with Steve Bruce is proving very, very costly. Similar Adkins hasn't come to this decision over night and it's also strange the club didn't announce his leaving. He was first offered another contact back in March and at least two more improved ones have been on the table yet he's waited to the middle of June before going to the press and giving them his decision ? Sounds as though he's been waiting for confirmation of another job before throwing the towel in with us ? Shoddy from both sides, this should have been tied up months ago. Someone will have received a phone call over the week end saying the jobs yours if you want it. Looks like NA has already had his. #229 Last edited: Jun 8, 2019 Urika Peece., Jun 8, 2019
Burnsy reported it was the terms of a relegation release clause that allowed the club to sack him with no compo if we were relegated. He was clearly aware of the cost cutting plans following end of parachute payments and felt this was a likely scenario
Eaves got a rehashing of the Johnny Johnny Eyre song at Udders. Much to my disgust. No way is that lump worthy of comparison with my first City hero
**** me your desperate to prove a point. How do you know that wasn't the case ? How do you know Adkins wasn't promised another job only for it to go to someone else ? Why did he wait until the middle of June before chucking the towel in with us ? Not that any of it matters. He left Hull City, who gave him a leg up back into football management when no other club would touch him with a bargepole, then waited two years for another chance at Charlton who then binned him after a season and a bit. What point are you trying to make balkan ?
