Hello, team. Hope everyone on the plus side of well. Do like one running at Newbury of the morrow (3.23). STRAWBERRI, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, off a perch of 80 looks most appealing to me. Mr Varian's charge has won 2 of her 5 contests so far, this term, and looked an eyecatcher last time when staying on, most encouragingly, over 9 furlongs. The step up in distance by a furlong looks ideal for her judging by how she finished off that race. Meanwhile, unlike some of her opponents Strawberri won't be inconvienced by the likely ground, at all, as she is already a winner on heavy. Is also bred to be much better than an 80 rated performer as Strawberri is a half-sister to 3 Black type performers including Group 3 winner, Teodoro (peak rated 109) and Group 1 placed, Altruistic (peak rated 106). Do like her, team, and hope she boosts her win rate tomorrow. Good luck all.
16.30 Newbury Milltown Star. Each way. I’ve been waiting for really slow ground for this one, gets it today. Skybet paying 6 places. 19.00 Newcastle Dalglish. I backed this originally because of it’s name and I have liked the progress made. First time in a handicap today, up against a tough looking field but I’m not giving up. Singles and ew double. Have a good day all, good luck with yours
Cheltenham 15,40 Back On The Lash 11/2 bet365, others 9/2 16,50 Bermeo 16/1 e/w bet365 four places, 12/1 PP and betfair six places
Going against you Karlos in the 4.30, I see MOLLS MEMORY 11/2 seems to like this race having won it twice, along with today’s conditions. Don’t think stall 1 is to bad either so going for 3/3 today.
A bit of an "early season opener" feel to Cheltenham today. The first race sees a disappointing turn-out with the Persian War winner at cramped odds to follow up his Chepstow victory. With a view to the future, the two novice chases are certainly interesting and both could go to Dan Skelton via Third Time Lucki and Faivoir - his old boss Paul Nicholls provides stern opposition in both races though in the shape of Fidelio Vallis and the huge Danny Kirwan. The most competitive race of the card is undoubtedly the handicap hurdle at 4.15 with most of the top UK yards represented. Guard Your Dreams is top weight for good reason and should go close on seasonal debut. In the lucky last it is another Skelton runner that interests me for the future, namely John Locke, who really caught the eye in the Adonis. Whilst one eye will be on him, the other will be firmly on Roger Brookhouse's runner Cardano, who has been in excellent form on the flat and is rated 96 in that sphere ahead of his hurdles debut. At 14/1 he must be worth an e/w dabble in this.
Cheltenham picks... 2:30 - Any News 3:05 - Bardenstown Lad 3:40 - Danny Kirwin 4:15 - Art Approval 4:50 - Defuture Is Bright 5:25 - Top Bandit No bets, just for watching... Good luck if you are having a play today...
Third Time Lucki impressive, good pick! . Am totally off-form so my choice against Faivoir has to be the same as Pilgrim's, sorry Pilgrim, hope I don't screw-up everything, Back On The Lash. (15:40). Surely is weighted to do well in this event? Is a sound jumper too.
Bloody hell the lunatic on Dubai Racing is at it again - just about to set off at Cheltenham so he switches to Sky Sports Racing where they are still in the bloody parade ring at Doncaster. Sort it out pal!!
I gave-up on that Dubai Racing thing quite a while ago, Oddy, but am content to watch pretty quick replays on Racing TV/or ATR without looking at the result! Not satisfactory for most guys, I'm sure, but it''ll do for me.
i can only agree with that. He looked superb in the parade ring and showed it on the course. I think the form in behind is utter tripe but that doesn’t matter when you win like that. Given how poor the Supreme was for UK horses, I expect he might reach the festival with a 100% record.
