They would likely have rested 1 of them but both being out could be a small boost for Saints.

I’d prefer Werner to play …. The words “cow’s arse” and “banjo” come to mind when I think of him

Such a great player. Very sad, but wonderful of the club to honour him!

That is £20K towards the £25K they were fined by EUFA for the disgrace at the Euros final. There is no comparison between the two incidents. The FA are taking the piss FFS.

An FA statement said: "Southampton FC's Ralph Hasenhuttl has been fined £20,000 after admitting a breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to their Premier League match against Chelsea FC on Saturday October 2 2021. "The manager accepted the charge that comments made during a post-match interview constituted improper conduct in that they questioned the integrity of the VAR Match Official and/or implied bias and/or bring the game into disrepute.".

Thought he was going to dispute it as being misunderstood?

However Arteta said worse and got away with it? ie.

Arsenal were understandably aggrieved when James McArthur was only booked late in the first half for a wild kick at Bukayo Saka, who went off injured at half-time.
"It's a clear red card," said Gunners boss Mikel Arteta. "He had no intention of playing the ball. I don't know how, with VAR, he hasn't been sent off."

    How is that any different?

Because he hasn't mentioned anyone by name perhaps. Ralph referred to Mike Dean, not VAR.

Mike Dean wasn't on VAR but the person that was is being criticised.

Yeah but Arteta just mentioned VAR in general - he wasn't questioning anyone's integrity. Ralph was with Dean. Hence the charge.

So any Manager can accuse the Match Officials of not doing their job as much as they like as long as they don't mention their names? Seems pedantic to me...

I think you’re looking at it through Saints-tinted glasses…. For me Ralph’s comments were clearly more punishable. He was calling out Mike Dean(abs his integrity) in public, whereas Arteta was moaning about an unknown official’s decision

I think as soon as Ralph made his comments most of us knew a fine or ban was coming. Fortunately just a fine, abs I presume the club will swallow the cost for him

This. I don't think he was in any danger of a ban as it is his first time he's got into trouble.

Yeah there was always a charge coming from that. The clip that was posted on twitter is misleading as he went further in the written press iirc.

Still think it was well worth it.

Arteta just said effectively he thought it should have been a red card. Ralph went a bit further than that by saying as soon as Dean reviewed the challenge he knew it was going to be a red card and he mentioned that we would have a problem when they found out Dean was VAR. You can't say that.
