Other results didn't help us today, but just think how bad it would look if we had lost that game. A win against Wolves and we really will be back among the pack.
Newcastle and Brentford drawing, is probably a good result for us. Brentford are slowly being dragged back into the relegation battle, the more teams, the better.
Rashica, he took them all. He is turning into a very important member of the team, apart from one atrocious corner in the first half.
Now that we are no longer bottom of the league and that place has been taken by the nouveau-riche Newcastle, I wonder if those terribly knowledgeable people at TalkSport will say that Newcastle shouldn't be allowed in the league because they clearly aren't trying?
Whatever you’re on mate I want some Seriously though I feel at least we have a chance now albeit a slim one
Home to Wolves then away to Newcastle. I suspect there will be a big turn over at Newcastle in January so now is the best time to play them.
How much was the second half turnaround down to Smith's HT talk? Southampton were very good but we beat them! He teams well with Pukki and almost created a goal with his lay-off to Teemu. His tenacious pressing helped to throw the Saints off balance and he seems to sense where the ball is going to from 50-50 challenges, much like Buendia did.
Burnley also drew and are only one point above us now. Leeds play Spurs tomorrow. I thought we were much better defending set-pieces today especially as that's a Saints strong point. We also scored from one so the training time seems well spent.
WhoScored's player ratings: Hanley was my MotM as well. Gilmour and Pukki also up there. Surprisingly quiet day for Normann.
He had a good game and was even better when Sargent came on for Todd and Milot moved over to the left. It was Gilmour who delivered the corner on to Hanley's head for the goal though.
Perhaps the most satisfying thing is that DS managed to beat the same team that he lost to a couple of weeks ago, with what some would argue was on paper a stronger squad (not me I might add)
