Is this anything to be worried about ?

Loans are always a part of football but we have taken out a few I believe recently.

Most people who own a property have borrowed against it and therefore have a charge against the property to quite normal but obviously they have decided to borrow maybe for January or maybe for relegation. The only thing is that the Vic isn't worth a fortune and they could only borrow say 80% of the value so that's really not going to get us that far is it?

With inflation picking up it is likely that interest rates will rise. If this is for a fixed rate loan it could be a sensible move to have the money available.

I have to admit that Air New Zealand are probably better - if only for the superb free wines I've had on their flights.

It's a bit of a divisive issue really, one that puts fans into three groups - those for, those against and those who can't see what the fuss is all about. I guess that, at the end of the day, it's all about maximising revenue these days. The club are in a fair bit of debt so Gino does need to do what he can to reduce that. I do wonder how much the naming rights could actually be worth though - our humble stadium is no Emirates or Etihad, nor even a Stadium MK, so there must be a limit on how much companies would be prepared to pay.

I'm somewhere between the 'can't see what the fuss is' and 'those against' groups, leaning heavily towards 'against' - simply because I hate the way advertising has become so intrusive in everyday life. I don't buy branded clothes/shoes as I object to paying to be a human advertising hoarding - and I don't watch commercial TV or listen to commercial radio as there are simply far too many interruptions for ads. Victor Meldew II :)

Like many, I certainly won't be calling it the Happy Egg Stadium, Gamblers Anonymous Stadium or whatever it eventually gets named - always The Vic for me.

I agree I try and avoid anything branded, not only do you pay to advertise you pay a premium. Facebook and similar are simply using our data provided free to generate a revenue stream and don't get me started about cookies. I am sick and tired of being to confirm my cookie preferences (which are never saved). The question should be if you want cookies go to your settings and turn them on, the default is off.

    Rant over.

Well the naming is not for us, it's to get the rest of the world buying whatever the naming company is selling. Having owned the club for 9 to 10 years now it is only now with the pandemic and relegation affecting finances so much that they are looking to do this. It's a fiscally responsible move and while we will always call it the Vic, it will bring in much needed money

I think they’re good owners, not like some of the chancers we’ve had in the past. So if they want to call it the Gorilla Glue Stadium, I couldn’t give a monkey’s. ;)
That said, wholeheartedly agree with BB re advertising. And Scully and his cookies. The trouble with rejecting cookies, which I always do, you’re then rejecting a cookie that remembers whether or not you rejected the cookies, so you have to keep doing it. By law (I don’t know if this was EU law, mind) they have to default to rejecting.

We should run a Give-a-little page saying that we will name the stadium the "Democracy for Saudi Arabia Stadium" or something similar when the fund reaches £10m.

I am beginning to find all the accent on how bad Man Ure were rather that how good we were more and more irritating

It is the same kind of result as when we beat LiVARpool 3 - 0, the difference being Man U actually scored and had a goal disallowed and had more attempts at goal than Liverpool did

I would guess that Man U had more or at least as many attempts at goal as Liverpool did when they beat us 5 - 0 which shows how bad we were then

That's akin to the old, old claims that, when we play badly, it's because opposition teams force us to - yet when the boot is on the other foot we don't get any credit for forcing them to play badly. It has always annoyed the hell out of me.

Two minutes in and we've conceded a penalty.

    0-1 - I don't think Deeney took it though...
