You are a clever person if you can tell the tone of someone's voice and his thoughts on a subject from what they have written.
Did he hear it down the pub? Did he fail to verify it? Those are obviously assumptions you've made, the only question is why you want to find something to be mad at him for.
You're the one defending him. I'm just pointing out he posted a rumour that was immediately denied by the Norwich manager. Makes Burnsy look pretty amateur. You often come to his defence, quite oddly. He is allowed to be criticised when he does something wrong, you know. Especially considering how often it seems to relate to a negative comment/story about City. As some have said, he seems to trip over himself to publish something potentially negative, even when it then proves to be false.
Quite, although the random generators aren't generally then copied and published by supposedly reputable journalists. If he is happy to be part of that tripe then he can be criticised as such.
There is absolutely no indication that what he's said is untrue, or that he took glee in it or anything else negative that he's reported on. I'm not even sure this is a particularly negative story, he just saying a PL club are interested in one of our players. He's not saying he's gone or wants to go. He also acknowledges that it isn't a particularly surprising story since PL clubs will inevitably be monitoring good young players in the Championship. The witch hunt against Burnsy is utterly bizarre. This Greaves tweet is an example of people itching to jump down his throat over the tiniest little thing. People are even inventing a tone with which he's tweeting to try and create a reason to be angry at him. Burnsy has watched more City games in the last 20 or so years than the vast majority of our fans. He got emotional during his commentary when we achieved many of our big successes during that time. Go back and listen to them and tell me he doesn't want City to do well. He isn't even neutral, he's very pro-Hull and pro-Hull City. This anti-Burnsy trend started with the Allam fans being upset that he reported on the negative things they were doing and it's just grown legs. The same people moaned about Amber Nectar among others. Anyone who criticized the owners at one point was deemed too negative or anti-Hull City even when they were actually some of the most ardent followers of the club.
Yeah but are they a Super Christian, Proper Christian, Plastic Christian, Armchair Christian, better than you Christian? (p.s. more seriously, I doubt it).
And you think Smith is going to reply with "yeah, he's a player we're interested in?" Most managers play a straight bat when asked about potential transfers - but you knew that already.
Smith would deny anything out of hand anyway. Half the Premier league and most of the championship would be interested. It's a non-story. Just a journo doing what journos do whilst recognising the performances of a player. If the takeover fails, then I'd be concerned about upper championship / yoyo clubs coming in for our brighter talent, but as things are I'm not at all surprised that agents are creating speculation now the purse strings look to be about to be cut as I'm sure some of our lads will be looking for improved contracts.
My concerns were of a "we need a piece of that sale" barter from the Allams... but perhaps any future sales revenue is already a sale clause.
He broadcasted it on his morning show that isn’t football related. He then backtracked an hour later. Going on previous years I’ll give him one week before he mentions a KLP rumour.
Wouldn't you expect KLP's agent to be pushing for an improved contract also? Doesn't take a genius to work out that there'll be interest if we knocked back 8m.in the summer. Don't shoot the messenger. Jeez, now we have burnsy criticised for mentioning local football on his local current affairs show. Some people are trying really hard to justify a pre-existing dislike here.
