I can understand going with 3 CBs, but it would have made more sense to go with 3 midfielders in front of them. Liverpool are passing around Romeu and JWP, into space, the nearest CB is charging out and, more often than not, not getting the ball which then leaves gaps in the back line. Romeu, though for me, has to accept so much responsibility for the first two goals, not going with players who then lay on an easy assist. Liverpool really should be 5 or 6 up. Bednarek is on a yellow, so if Ralph reshapes does he risk leaving Bedders on? Broja has been the pick of the front three imo.
So are Man City but we gave them a game. We've just left Liverpool oceans of space in our own half. There's having a go and then there's committing football suicide.
Is your analysis of games always limited to 'sort it out Ralph'? I think we have to remember that we are up against a white hot Liverpool side that could easily be 3-0 up at half time against just about any other EPL side. We really don't know if a change in formation will help given the players we have. Personally I thought the formation was a good one but I expected Perraud and Tino to not play so far forward. We seem to be playing 3 at the back even when against the ball. Also, I expected (as others) that we would see a lot of long balls played up to the 3 strikers spread across the front line. Armstrong has had a great first half but Broja holds on to the ball too long and Adams is too deep. Romeu and Prowse I thought were there to simply break up the Liverpool attacks which they are trying to do but Liverpool ping the ball about so effectively the game is just passing them by. What is remarkable is that the heads haven't dropped yet. I'd prefer us to experiment with a new formation in this sort of game as opposed to one of our closer rivals where the result is so much more important. I'de be tempted to put Tella for Broja second half and tell Adams to get forward more. Get Romeu to drop back a bit to play in front of a back 4 minus Lyanco. Nothing to lose here by experimenting further.
Bednarek shouldve seen red for his tackle on mane imo Mad he only got a yellow. Or am i biased? Good afternoon btw
My Liverpool mate is far more sensible than us lot and pointed out that Allison has had to make two huge saves.
Reading out the Twitter response to the team selection on BT Sport, not pretty. Sutton calling Ralph stupid with his team selection 4-0
Ralph out comments getting tv airtime now. Guy got slapped down, but could suggest it’s gaining more traction. Still don’t think it’s the solution tbh, our form still hasn’t been bad despite Norwich being disappointing and today being daft.
