49ers will want their slice as they have invested too.

Try taking three characters out of a side and this is the resuly. Bamford and Ayling plus Alioski all brought spirit and fight to this side. Take them out and we are left with three shambles of signings. Rodrigo is cack and so is James and who the feck thought firpo was a footballer?. Orta gets tons of praise but he has wasted so much money and for me is a loser. As for Bielsa i think his time has come. Time for a new coach and five new players. But having wasted so much on the unfantastic three i think we will sell. Raph and kalvin will be gon in the summer. Kalvin probably knows where he is going already. Chelsea or Liverpool i reckon. Raph may be heading to Paris or spain. Pascal could be gone too as we will need a fire sale if relegated.
As for improving the stadium don't make me laugh. No way will that happen without a top six finish. say hello to mediocrity and welcome to wakeyworld.

    A few points.

I'm astounded that Forshaw has come in for criticism. He has been our best player since his return. The whole team should look to him as an example. We try too many flicks and tricks at the moment and they rarely come off. Get the ball and play it the way you are facing. Rodrigo, Raphinha, James, Harrison, Firpo are guilty of trying little flicks around the corner but it just gives possession away.

Dan James was a bad signing at that price. Everyone knows he is quick and not much else. It's not personal but did he really improve the squad?

Firpo looked a solid signing. He was outstanding the season he played for Betis. Couldn't break in to Barcelona team. He's not had a good game for us and looked terrible yesterday. He should play with the 23's to learn our system and recover his fitness properly.

Bamford is not the saviour of this team. He's not THAT good.

Bielsa is not beyond criticism. He got it wrong first half yesterday. His subs were right on the money though.

My son in law is a season ticket holder with scum, when we got James at 25mill he was laughing at the price(me to) he said oh yeah he's rapid.....but that's it finito.
Firpo was good at betis (average team) couldn't break into Barca side (not surprised) again way overpriced (should have got cornet).
Rodrigo unfortunately it hasn't worked out, no drive for a midfielder not lethal enough for a striker pants down on that money without a doubt.... we've lost our mojo and it needs to get in gear quickly......to good to go down? where have I heard that before :emoticon-0133-wait:

Forshaw - He’s okay and one of the best midfielders we have, this however doesn’t reflect how good he is, just how poor the rest are. He like the rest had a torrid first half, he isn’t a game changer, the rest around him aren’t game changers either and he only looks “better” when Phillips is alongside him.

I don’t think it’s criticism on him, just pointing out that he isn’t the answer we’re looking for in midfield. That was our first choice midfield yesterday and they were totally outplayed.

James - A terrible signing as a striker or number 10 but he’s a left sided attacking midfielder. When he plays that position he runs all day long and he does provide good defensive cover. He scares RBs to death with his pace and keeps them pushed back. It’s simple, play him in his best position and Raphinha wide right.

Firpo - I see people say he doesn’t know the system and he’s not Bielsa fit or Bielsaball ready. Forget that, he’s an attacking left back who has no pace and can’t do the basics, he can’t tackle and he passes to the opposition more than he does his own team. Those attributes have nothing to do with Bielsaball.

We are constantly looking for excuses about missing players making the difference, only Bamford and Ayling could have made that team. Ayling was getting slatted before his injury, Bamford was Bamford of old missing his chances.

For the first time I’m very open minded about Bielsa remaining, he’s a world class coach but too set in his ways. It might have been Wakey who said Bielsa sees how it should be in his head and when reality doesn’t play it out like that he’s often too stubborn to change.

Some will say the subs worked, we were better but we were still second best in the second half. Good tacticians are getting the better of a world class coach who has too much faith in too many average signings and players. Even Llorente looked average yesterday constantly giving the ball away. Still the best defender we’ve got but Rodrigo, James, Harrison, Firpo over £80m of wasted dosh

You're right about Forshaw. His game is to rat, and press, harass, win the ball and give it to others who can produce the quality. He reminds me of David Batty (not as good before you start). These players need others around them to give options. We didn't have options yesterday and there was nobody to pass to alot of the time. The reason he looks better with Phillips is that Phillips is a natural midfielder and makes himself available to others. Rodrigo is the opposite, he just galavants around up front leaving Forshaw chasing shadows.

We need another strong midfielder. We keep playing James and Rodrigo centrally and they are wingers. It's ridiculous the amount of wingers we have. Horses for courses.

For the last few seasons Kalvin Phillips has been called the quarterback of Leeds. He was injured this season along with half the team and because of the injuries to others he has been played out of position. He cannot QB the game from back there and hasnt had the players around him to see the positions they need to attack to receive the ball. The whole team are still square pegging and shoehorning James into every starting line up doesnt work. Joffy would have caused more problems than James yesterday

Bielsa said No Phillips was not injured, when questioned if the players were confused about their positions this is what he had to say….

The formation of the back four, responded to the same idea at Tottenham. Considering their left winger as someone who made diagonals into the box. Their nine as a player who dropped deep and then went back into the box. Their two, who played wide right, who liked to go on the outside. This position was similar to Tottenham’s. Evidently, it did not work so I distributed the players once again, not so much defensively because Phillips as a right CB was playing well. Llorente as a RB was not playing badly. In the middle, Forshaw and Dallas was not a consistent midfield. After I decided for Dallas to come back to RB, Llorente CB and Phillips DM. It’s probably the players could feel affected. Anyhow, Dallashas played as a RB and eight an infinite amount of times. Phillips has played as a CB standing out and in his normal position of DM. Llorente as a RB who did not have to go up. The two times he has done it he has not had difficulties. That’s why it’s possible the changes affect, but I would have to rethink the subject.

Half agree, I get the feeling It’s more shoe horning Rodrigo and Harrison. James should be wide left or not played, because of Bielsa being loyal to Harrison James is being sacrificed.

Rodrigo was a record signing, he is a role model of a player, never complains, tries hard but always looks frustrated. What is his position, Bielsa obviously doesn’t see him as a striker and putting James ahead of him is just pure crazy, even Tyler is ahead of him. He isn’t a midfielder either so what’s his best position? We play a style of football and formation where we’re never going to witness it.

I totally agree we should have started Joffy up front, Harrison should have been on the bench, Dallas is never a RB so he should have started LB and play Drameh. Bielsa needs to stop dropping Phillips into a back line when they have two strikers, leave him in front of the two CBs. Me personally I’d have Llorente and Struijk but again Bielsa allows loyalty to dictate his choice.

Rodrigo spent his best years as a left winger. So.....another winger asked to play in midfield.

James.... a winger asked to play as a 9.

Costa.... a left winger who tore it up at Wolves (with a great link up with Barry Douglas) asked to play as a right winger.

Dallas... a right winger asked to play left full back or in Central midfield.

Alioski... a winger or no 10 asked to play left back.

My patience will be severely tested if we sign another winger in the next couple of windows!

Whilst it's great to have Forshaw back, and playing well, he's one of those players you would really want when you're protecting a lead, not someone who is going to influence a result. Saying that he has been one of our most consistant players since coming back.

I'm sick of square pegs in round holes. I understand dropping Rodrigo to midfield and hoping to link up play to our forward, but playing James alone up front is nuts. I can understand that with his pace, it would have caused Brighton's defence problems, but he doesn't have the movement or foresight to go it alone up front.

Bielsa clearly doesn't understand what the word balance means.

We really needed someone to hold the ball up yesterday. Gelhardt did it well at Spurs at times but I can't remember one instance of Rodrigo, James, Rapha or Harrison actually holding the ball up and allowing us to move up the field yesterday. That allowed Brighton to just keep pressing our defenders. The front four were dreadful yesterday. I know Forshaw has had a couple of pelters and the defence have been accused of giving the ball away but that front 4 never came short and gave an option. Disgusting performance by them. Ironically Roberts came on and immediately came short and held the ball up and we then looked like we finished quite strong.

Oh ye with short memories .....

Let's go back to the Championship & dominate the middle of the table again, or ..... <doh>

Get rid of Bielsa & get Big Sam or Big Mick in to save us from relegation. <doh>

Funny how just a few short years ago, we would all have been happy to be in the PL, even if we were being humped every week. And here we all are, NOT being humped every week. And the very real possibility of hanging on here long enough to develop a strong PL squad.

Difficult one this. Annoyingly, Watford play high press and make it work and although they're down near us, tonked Everton and Man U. So the tactic can work if the team works. There's no more fast paced little triangles now - it's like everyone has forgotten how they played over the last two seasons.
I agree on the Bielsa hating - Bielsa achieved Champ playoffs / promotion to PL / top half of PL and already people are calling for his head. It's right up there with the 'top 6 finish / CL football next season' comments at the end of last season.

Forshaw reminds me of Dunga, the Brazilian 'Water Carrier'. A phrase rarely heard until he burst on the scene. Well, not so much burst on the scene, just quietly got on with it, doing all the donkey work for the stellar Brazilian players around him. A team that functioned badly if he wasn't there. He was universally praised the world over for his contribution. Dull & boring it might have been, but it was a critical part of how that team operated, to the extent that he was widely held to be the glue that held the team together, and first pick.

And now we have Forshaw doing this critical work for us, & for some reason, everyone who is no-one feels they have to have a pop at him for doing his job well. Probably because they don't know their football as well as they think they do - either that or their desire to moan like absolute fcukwits overwhelms any recognition of worth they might have.
