Good Morning. It's Tuesday 30th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Late heartbreak for U23's

A last minute goal from Citeh ace Cole Palmer denied Mark Jackson's under 23's a valuable point last night at the Academy Stadium in Manchester. The visitors took the lead from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time. Lewis Bate threaded the ball perfectly for Summerville to latch onto. Egan Riley had little option but to bring the Dutch winger down. Greenwood stepped up, and although the keeper guessed the right way, the accuracy and power gave Van Sas no chance.

Two minutes into the second half, the Blues were level. Brazilian forward Kayky skipped past Moore before chipping the ball past the helpless Klaesson. With twenty-five minutes left, the hosts were reduced to ten men. Lavia's lunge on Kenneh earned the Belgium midfielder a second yellow card. Leeds took full advantage of their extra man and retook the lead two minutes later; Greenwood firing hard and low into the right-hand corner.

Their lead would last only eight minutes. James McAtee with the strike, after good work from Palmer to wrestle possession from Bate. Ten men City wrapped the game up in the 89th minute. Klaesson failed to smother Palmers shot, giving the England U21 star an easy tap in from the rebound.

    Eight games without a win

Mark Jackson's U23's have slipped down to 12th place in the table (out of 14) after their latest defeat. They have now gone eight games without a win. The Whites have invested heavily in their youngsters, and we have seen Struilk, Gelhardt and Summerville impress for the first team, but can't help feeling disappointed that the youngsters are not competing against others their own age!

    Duo return to action

Although the youngsters may have lost last night, the silver lining is that both Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling both started last night, and Bamford completed the entire game. Both were instrumental in the set-up of the penalty which led to Leeds taking the lead on the stroke of half-time, and the England forward actually had the ball in the back of the net early on, but it was ruled out for offside. Bamford was only supposed to play 45 minutes. Mark Jackson's plan was to give Paddy, Summerville and Ayling 45 minutes each, but a first half injury to Hjelde (Calf) meant Jackson had to change his plans.

Gelhardt has been an unused sub in his last two games. Surely he deserves a start tonight?

Will Omicron spread effect you going to matches

The Government last night rules that once again face coverings have become mandatory on public transport and shops in an effort to slow the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant. The potential deadly strain of the coronavirus is responsible for 40,000 new cases daily in the UK. This being the case, will it effect you and your loved ones travelling to games? Will you take extra precautions?

    Morning all…

Gelhardt was pencilled in to do the second 45 minutes last night, an injury to Hjelde meant Bamford doing the entire 90. What I read in to that decision was Bielsa has no intention of starting Joffy.

Reading the match report Bamford vanished a bit after half time, I’d imagine he was instructed not to chase down, not to put himself about, not to risk an injury, understandably and no doubt it didn’t help us going for the win.

The reserve keeper is being blamed for the first and second goals, he is having a bit of a time of it in the reserves. If we think we have injury problems now let’s just be pleased Meslier is okay.

As Gessa pointed out elsewhere, it must be as frustrating as hell for Joffy as he’s getting zero game time anywhere.

Koch has posted a Twitter update, it was himself in the gym and the caption “One Session Closer To Recovery”.

Kieran Maguire has shared that Leeds United are hoping to have the Jean-Kevin Augustin saga wrapped up early in 2022. Odds are against Leeds but we’re still fighting our case apparently

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:
I have been saying for weeks that the massive injury list to the first team has seen a huge drop in results throughout the club. The 18 man squad means best U23s replace them then U18s are replacing 23s and U16s replacing 18s. Weak teams fielded means poor results. Our 23s have fallen from 2 points off the top right down the league table with no wins in the last 8 games. Cresswell, Drameh, Gelhardt, Summerville needed as subs or starters for the first team. Then we get Greenwood, Miller, Bate, McKinstry and Hjelde sat on the bench. This means any time on the pitch given to these players is limited tto 30/45mins. Cresswell is the leader and is needed badly but hardly available, Joffys goals are needed Summerville gets 45mins at most. We even had 15yo Gray playing in the last 2 games. I believe the small first team squad will change as Bielsa has really seen the damage done this season as the whole club has gone backwards. Yes nobody expected to see 50% of the first team injured or suspended but thats what we got and even the Spurs match showed we had no first teamers on the bench they were all 23s and that was match 12 so season slipping away fast

We just might see Ayling and Bamford back in the picture at the weekend and that will leave just Koch injured and almost ready for the 23s. Ayling and Summerville made pretty patterns down the right-last night so Ayling and Raphinha together again much needed. Paddy playing the whole game will be a bonus for him, so hopefully he recovers well today and no set backs he may be available at the weekend

We'll be fine. We'll win the next two games. We'll beat Arsenal. We'll be fighting for Europe by February.

The differences in last nights squads was massive. Yes we paid around £5m in total to get Gelhardt, Greenwood, Drameh and Summerville. Man City paid £15m for the Brazilian teen sensation Kayke who scored last night against us. But our team earlier in the season was only 2 points off Man City at the top and who won the league last season. The difference is quality was minimal when we are able to put out our best team. Kayke has taken a while to learn Pepball so only played 4 games scoring twice. Compare that to Joffy who has only played 8 games this season and scored 6 and Greenwood who has played 13 games and scored 9. We really need to see Joffy, Greenwood and Summerville back in harness together. Also need to remember that Joffy has only played a full game twice this season and has still scored 6 in 8

Basel will not stand in the way of Cabral leaving in January, they desperately need the money. YEP printed Leeds were favourites to get him (Like we seem to be with everyone). West Ham have supposedly put in a concrete £20m offer, he has 25 goals and 8 assists in 26 games only 23 years old. Wiki states different figures, 70 games in 2 and a third seasons with 44 goals.

This is where I scratch my head, why did we sign James and yet play him constantly out of position yet we could have signed an out and out goal machine and had change? No doubt we’d have signed him and played him in midfield behind Roberts

We were in for him last season but his cclub inflated his price massively because they thought Barcelona were coming. Well Barcelona imploded and we walked away like we walked away from Noah Lang because they had just paid €6m a week before telling us €25m. Orta and Bielsa walk rather than get involved. Barcelona cannot afford any player, they can only swap or sell to make room.

You notice Clough referring to Bremner as "little Billy", possibly even while Leeds manager. And he wonders why he only lasted 44 days.

Can you imagine the injuries now, one of those tackles they’d be out for the season

Looking at the fixtures for tomoz and I reckon there will be no change to tonights table at the bottom. I see Southampton and Watford and Burnley all spanked. i see Villa and Brentford and Everton all spanked too. Which means if we put Brentford to the sword and actually score we will move another 2 or 3 places up the table
