Right at the death, a third Newcastle handball in the box. Dean Smith wanted it checking, but VAR not interested. Honestly think there's been 4 handballs in the box this game, and the least convincing one got given.
Got to say that the point was undeserved - so we’ve played badly, but at least we avoided losing. Just have to win when playing well next time…
Ref and linesman were awful, so many deflections not given in our favour. VAR check for a handball, clearly hits the arm but not given rightly in my opinion, but they get a goal kick instead of a corner and nothing said about it. Red card was the worst thing for us today, Newcastle sat back very compact to defend their box and hit us on the counter attack.
That was such a disappointing performance against a team of 10 men for much of the game. Pukki’s goal was a blinder but that’s another game that we should have won and failed to do so. The momentum has stalled.
Not sure I agree it was the “least convincing”. It probably was a penalty. It’s just inexplicable to not check the others.
Another point gained from a losing position (not that we should have been in that position). Most importantly I think for Newcastle mentality we didn’t give them their first win of the season.
We were missing two of our best players today on Normann and Rashica, too many passes came into the midfield and were sent straight back to the defenders without looking at what was behind them. Aarons didn’t get any change out of Lewis. Several penalty calls for handball I think at least one should be given
It looked at times, as if City thought it against the rules to pass the ball into the box. Very tentative throughout.
I think you're absolutely right to highlight Rashica. Dean Smith has just said the same, and also that Sargent needs some confidence by breaking his duck. Hopefully Pukki goes on one of his scoring spurts (he might already be on one, three in four games...)
Frustrating night except for Giannoulis' excellent cross and Pukki's beautiful volley for the goal. We didn't do enough against 10 men but both luck and the ref were against us after the sending off. We did manage 16 shots, 6 on target. Newcastle had 9 shots but the only one on target was the penalty that Krul almost saved. It would have been a horrible game to lose and an away point is always welcome. We're now unbeaten in 4 games but Spurs away will be a challenge to Suffolk's glorious run.
