I don't even know where to begin anymore.

Greenwood, McTominay and a fair few still not making progress.

    The central midfield is non-existent.

    The defence is a mess.

We're not creating any chances and certainly nowhere near opening up defences.

You can't even isolate an area to say, this will sort it.

So can we agree we are going backwards and will be lucky to get top 6?

    Forget silverware.

The problem is we haven't stopped going backwards. The regression hasn't been halted.

I don't know where we'll finish but I doubt it'll be Top 4 playing like this. No chance.

We started with a 4-2-3-1 tonight tbf, not a 4-2-2-2. He needs to actually play a 4-3-3.

I would be happy to see a "Four Four ****ing Two" than the **** we are seeing now <laugh>

Actually might work because other teams aren't used to playing against it any more :bandit:

You can't play 4 4 2 with that CM pair though, they just aren't good enough to do it.
Unless Fernandes played the Scholes role? DVDB as Keane? Just seems to lightweight to me to pull it off.

We've got the width, although I wouldn't start Rashford or Greenwood in it, it would be Sancho and Elanga.

Nah, 4 3 3 is they way to go. It narrows us but would he more solid in midfield.

Defensive wise, to say we missed Maguire is as damning an assessment of Lindelof you can make. He's just not up to it. Needs to be Maguire or Jones (injured apparently ffs!!!!) alongside Varane.

I actual think we should consider playing out the season with three at the back (AWB is one of them) and wing backs. We're piss weak otherwise.

I saw on bbc that it was 4-2-3-1. Which one is it? So confusing!

I didn’t watch the match and so I’ve read about is how Villa dominated possessions and created more chances. But when I checked the statistics for the match, it is 54% United and with 19 shots and 4 on target. All on more than Villa’s except for equal shots on target.

I need to watch this game because the reports are so conflicting. Overall, I’m just glad that we didn’t lose.

Taken from a Facebook group, so am assuming these figures to be true.

    This is the squad for the 2021/22 season;

    Player/Yearly Pay/Weekly Pay

    Cristiano Ronaldo £26,520,000 £510,000
    David De Gea £19,500,000 £375,000
    Jadon Sancho £18,200,000 £350,000
    Raphael Varane £17,680,000 £340,000
    Paul Pogba £15,080,000 £290,000
    Edinson Cavani £13,000,000 £250,000
    Anthony Martial £13,000,000 £250,000
    Marcus Rashford £10,400,000 £200,000
    Harry Maguire £9,875,000 £189,904

    Bruno Fernandes £9,360,000. £180,000
    Juan Mata £8,320,000 £160,000
    Luke Shaw £7,800,000 £150,000
    Fred. £6,240,000 £120,000
    Victor Lindelof. £6,240,000 £120,000
    Nemanja Matic £6,240,000 £120,000
Donny van de Beek £6,240,000 £120,000
    Dean Henderson £5,200,000 £100,000
    Alex Telles £4,840,000 £93,077
    Aaron Wan-Bissaka £4,680,000 £90,000
    Eric Bailly £4,160,000 £80,000
    Mason Greenwood £3,900,000 £75,000
    Phil Jones £3,900,000 £75,000
    Jesse Lingard £3,900,000 £75,000
    Diogo Dalot £1,300,000 £25,000
    Tahith Chong £1,040,000 £20,000
    Scott McTominay £1,040,000 £20,000
    Teden Mengi £31,200 £600

There are some stand out shockers here, some on ridiculoulsy high, one or two too low.

The block of five in bold could all be replaced by younger, more hungry, players on far less wages. Mostly from within that squad but am thinking also of Elanga, who is in the squad instead of Chong.

You could lose those five players instantly. I would keep Cavani till season end though, then he leaves.

The ones in italic underlined also need to leave, either this month or season end. This all needs sorting out.

A stand out one for me is Dean Henderson! Who the **** (I know the answer) gave him a contract of £100k a week ffs???

    It's no wonder there's disharmony.

It is just shocking how much these players earn. I know that people have said before that they don’t care how much players earn as it isn’t their money, but the culture of ridiculously high salary above the league’s level to ridiculously underperforming punks reinforces a mentality of big-time Charlies that ultimately have no drive to do their job properly.

McTominay is actually on £73k per week according to sports salary which I think is fair - https://salarysport.com/football/player/scott-mctominay/

From that list, Pogba is the first ones I would get rid of. But must be replaced adequately because we have that gapping gap in the midfield.

I’ve said before that Martial should be playing on the left and not Rashford. But I think Rashford gets first preference due to, well, he’s Rashford! Ole made the mistake of making Martial into no 9. He never was and never will be. But does decent job coming in from the left. That was the start of the shtshow. Trying to fit too many players that naturally fit into same position into the same starting line up. It’s completely unbalanced the team. It was the start of the decline, in my opinion.

Either way, this team needs to be torn into pieces and start afresh.

    The wages are obscene.

    Even by PL footballer's standards.

At some point in that payscale the players no longer have the required motivation to do better.

I don't know where that point is, but some of those figures are miles over it.

Let’s thank Mr. Woodward. That man is the worst thing that ever happened to this club along with the Glazers that were too busy collecting dividends.

Hang on a sec. Not so long ago, the squad was among the very best in the premiership and any decent manager would take them to at least a real challenge for the title. Those of us who had the temerity to even suggest that may be some of the players are not giving their all got some abuse here. Now the squad is rank and we now have to start over? The players are exactly the same.

The reality is that the ****ing manager is rank, his system is a load of bollocks and if he keeps going along the same track, the team will be sliding down the table into mid table mediocrity. Yes, Rangnick may be interim. He needs to ****ing go. Even the likes of Phelan or Carrick are a huge improvement on him.

Nothing wrong with the players, They are not being properly trained on the training pitch, being fed a load of ****ing German nonsense. To make wholesale changes to the squad is completely counterproductive. Any top player will still struggle to adapt to the confusion. The reality is that we don’t play as a team. The manager is so poor he makes the problem even worse as they have no idea whether to stick or twist during a game.

Yes, sacking an interim manager will create an event that’s never happened before but are the ****ing GGs prepared to just watch us slide down the table and lose CL? It takes courage to admit to a massive mistake and Rangnick is a huge one.

What's your opinion on players actual "on field" game intelligence?

I have said before, the manager is not Pepeto with strings attached to the players.

Bottom line is we done fcked up.

Ole should've gone after the Europy final. Poch should've been brought in then.

But we didn't and so eventually when Ole did leave, Poch couldn't come until the summer, and we ended up having to hire an interim for 6 months.

Or better still.... had we not given Ole the permanent job in the first place, we could've hired Poch when he was sat waiting for us to come and get him.

Maybe didn't mention the name but certainly said he didn't control them on the pitch with strings like puppets <laugh>

(several times when Ole was getting flack and i said the players should take the blame, will still say the same with Ralf)
