Our Xmas is off. Were going to be with my parents (Dad's 80th on Xmas day too). My wife's best friend and her drove to my daughter's play at the city's theatre together... No masks on in the car. Tuesday the friend got sick, Wednesday diagnosed as COVID, and a third woman who was in the car with them is now sick too. I was at play the following night for the Sunday performance. I think less than 10% of the audience had masks on. Remember thinking at the time I would have to get myself tested before seeing my parents after that. Hopefully there were more masked at the cheese. (Hard to drink beer through a mask though). No sign of the plague in our household yet, but don't want to risk my parents. We're all boostered, the two women who got sick were vaccinated but hadn't had booster. What sucks is our house is a forest of boxes packed for the big move. It's not the slightest bit christmassy.
Got a text yesterday morning from the landlord to say the Cheese was shut due to a staff member testing positive. Turns out that three of them have, including the landlord. At one stage, he wasn't going to open at all today either, but he took a delivery of £5000 worth of ale the day before yesterday. He's decided he's going to open at 7.30 pm tonight. I don't do New Year's Eve night as I can't stand all the falseness. I'm calling at 7.30 for three pints. Still getting charged £5 for the privilege, even though I won't be eating any of the buffet, doing the bingo, or singing karaoke. Bit ****ing harsh given the money I put over the bar
so who is manning the bar ? or are the landlord and his staff going to break the law and open and host a super spreader .
He's keeping well away from it in the living quarters. The pub has had two deep cleans and will get another one today. Two staff are negative and they will be doing the bar. It's ticket only, so numbers are controlled.
Surely this is comprehensively illegal? If not, still a very bad idea - I wouldn't be going near the place.
still wouldn't go near tbh as i would expect at least 1 of the other staff to test positive in next couple of days though tbf i wouldn't be going into a pub on news years eve any year never mind this one .
I'm watching on Smithsonian channel on sky right now. In the factory thing on repeat. They are canning Carling! It's so impressive how they get the horses to piss in the can.
Interesting and surprising fact of the day RHC likes septic beer Canada is close enough to be considered at least partially septic surely .
You think? I was half thinking it would be something even worse than carling like fosters or rat piss or something.
Out of curiosity, do you always drink Carling/lager or do you ever get a hankering for ale? If you were eating a hearty steak pie, would you still reach for the Carling?
