Small matter of an important league game tonight, if we can stop arguing about whether Ole or Rangnick are to blame for our current postition in the order of things. I will state now; this is a game that we should win. If we can't win this, then I agree there is still something wrong. I'm prepared to also say, pre match, that I think the team will be picked and set up to do exactly that. I expect us to win by a couple of goals. No Fred or Telles, both have Covid. This helps us as it means the midfield three should be Pogba, McTominay and Fernandes. (not sure if McTom back from supsension but, if not, Matic) Shaw instead of Telles, also no problem. Front three of Rashford, Ronaldo and Sancho, with the centre halves being Maguire and Varane. Big Dave back in goals. We should piss this.
Very excited about tonight. If we move it about like we did the other day and actually have our shooting boots on, this could be really good. One thing I forgot to say in the last game, I got the impression the players were deliberately and continually trying to set it up for Rashford to score.
No arguments there. Ronaldo after 120 mins. Cavani now back and rested. Looking forward to them 6 going forward lol Attack Attack Attack Attack Attack!
Good first half. We need to stop passing it just behind the player we're passing it to, it really stifles momentum.
Still want to see Rashford and Sancho swap wings. Rashford still shooting at every small chance, Sancho looks like he is starting to perform.
Yeh. See those balls over the top to Rashford, if that's to Sancho he runs at the defence and uses his trickery. He's just more natural there with his right foot. Also allows Rashford to be available on the left if Sancho is able to pick him or Cavani out.
The moment any pressure is applied to our central defence, Maguire turns to blubber. Genuinely beginning to think he's a complete and utter dud.
We get all the way to the opposition box and then can't pass or pick out a player for toffee. This is now becoming a bit of a trend. Ronaldo coming on.
Those who say Rangnick has improved us is really living in cloud cuckoo land. Gutless and poor second half. Yet again a reasonable first half overshadowed by a pathetic second. United have very little chance of 4th under such a poor manager. He just cannot ****ing inspire his players
That second half was shocking, i lost interest with 20 to go because i just knew we would do nothing. What's happened to Ronaldo's finishing, he is still getting into positions and getting to the ball but never looks like a threat. Changes made far too late and though they looked like they could make a difference didn't even get time to warm up.
As I've said we have a problem in terms of players' movement off the ball in the box. Let's say Bruno or Pogba are on the ball, watch the players in the box, they're ball watching instead of finding space or pull defenders with them out the way. It's the difference you see in teams challenging at the very top and why they score 2, 3, 4 in a game.
Not even worth replying too. Anyway, what we actually need is a No9. Having two 35+ strikers is starting to bite us in the bollocks. Great idea not following through with trying to sign Alvarez. Although i think he signed for them before Greenwood got found out. City have that potential now, and we literally have no up and coming striker. And it showed. Cavani did **** all, although Pope knew nothing of that save, and Ronaldo missed two glaring headers that he used to put away with his eyes shut. With no finisher, we'll continue to struggle.
