We're passing the ball so well that we're out of the CL and unlikely to claim a CL place this season. Like you, as a measure of our success I'm all for passing the ball well

We're doing more than simply passing the ball well, tactically we're better at moving the ball forward and creating chances. If you listen to any manager they'll tell you they'd rather the team was creating chances and not finishing, than not creating anything which is a much harder task to tackle. It's clear we need a centre forward. That will be dealt with in the summer.

A CM and a decent CB would also help.

Rashford has allowed himself to become distracted with his political fight and now constant adverts on TV.
From what i see on the pitch the dressing room is fine (don't believe all you read, use your eyes).

These players now respect Ralf because they know if they don't perform as expected they will be dropped regardless of name/reputation (for some reason not Maguire though :bandit:)

You do know that three members of Ole's staff sit on the bench with Ralf every game?

    Hi Glazer,

I hear you are good at maths.

Which number is better, 5th in the table vs 7th in the table?

Lastly which is a better number of points, 17 points after 12 games (1.417 ppg) or 32 points in 16 (2.00 ppg).

    Thanks

TBF, the only entertaining things that Utd currently provide is watching that £80m defender make his weekly contribution to the comedy club and the odd game when Ronaldo decides he wants to turn up.

    Interesting read!

Can't be arsed to re hash things that have previously been said multiple times though.

    So, bullet points-

    • Reason we are in the position in league is down to previous manager, not current.
    • We didn't even make it out of group of the CL last season.
    • We lost a EL final against beatable oppostion by not making substitutions because the manager was worried about who would take penalties, while the oppostion manager managed the actual game.
    • Atletico are a very good and exprienced CL team, we are not.
    • One of the reasons Ole was sacked was his over mateyness with the dressing room, this wasn't a postive, it was a negative.
    • Rangnick is here to assess the current squad and identify those who have to leave. Obviously.
    • If we'd employed a 'permanent' manager mid season, he would not have been the right man.
    • If we'd kept the manager we had, we'd be mid table.
    • The only 'slagging off ' being done on here is the multiple use of the word **** at fellow posters.
    • The reason Rashford is currently ****e is down to him alone. He's ****e because he's ****e, not because his old pal of a manager is no longer here offering up his arse to be bummed.

    <ok>

You do realise he's nearly 38?

It's not a case of turning up, it's a case of whether his body can stand up to these games twice a week.

Clearly the answer is no, but the alternative is an injury prone and almost equally ancient centre forward, so Rangnick undersandably went with the bloke who'd just scored the hat trick.

Spurs defence =- not so good.
Atlectico defence - one of Europe's finest.

Agree with most of the points:

Rashford loss of form is incredible. He's turned overnight from an international to a squad player at best.

The mocking or bullying of posters has got to stop or we will only have 2 or 3 Rangnick ring lickers on here. <whistle>. The whole point of having a board is to have varying opinions.

Your putting the WHOLE of the blame on the previous manager is off the mark IMO. Some of the blame surely must be shouldered by the players.

The previous manager was sacked because Utd were sliding down the table. Not his mateyness. When that same mateyness delivered 2nd and 3rd he was adored by the owners and Woodward.

For all the improvement and "entertaining football" that Diego mentions the results compared to the previous seasons say otherwise. Bearing in mind the defence has always been the same ****.

I know it's fashionable for 2 or 3 here to dismiss his tenure as a complete disaster but utd league's positions do not suggest that (before the chuckle brothers start chucking their accusations of ole tears i only bring that up because you did!). He had to go but he's not been the worst manager we've had.

No, of course he's not, and I've mentioned many times that the rot set in long before Solskjaer arrived, and that includes the attitude of many players.

It's significant that you said he was adored by the owners and Woodward, but not the fans. This is true, beacuse the support want to see improvement and results on the pitch, and being a very, very distant third or second is not that.

The other point to bring up re players is that for the first two seasons Ole was given free pass because it wasn't 'his squad'.

What he left was his squad. So while some blame can still be apportioned to the players, it was his job to manage those (his) players, and he wasn't doing that.

Rangnick is now putting people's noses out of joint because that is what he has been tasked with doing.

I think the problem for some is they keep looking back instead of looking forward. It's endless and a waste of time.

We are where we are, the reality is we have a club infrastructure that needs changing. What I've seen so far from Rangnick here and now, he absolutely needs to be a part of that. We need a new manager to be appointed and together with Rangnick and Arnold the new guy needs to take the club in a new direction.

It starts with what we want our identity to be on the pitch. What style of football do we want to play and who's best to deliver that. That should decide our whole recruitment policy, from manager to coaching team to player purchases to the academy and youth development.

It's a fantastic opportunity to reset the club and it's been long overdue. Constantly looking back... I just don't get it tbh.

The re-boot should start with the stadium itself. It needs a complete rebuild, quite feasible within the OT site by re-orientating it within the site, rather than a piecemeal rebuild of the south stand over the railway tracks and tinkering here and there upgrading the facilities over three or four closed seasons. The problem, of course, is where to play in the interim.

From what I've seen, if it's a complete new build it won't be on the same footprint, so games can continue at Old Trafford. At least up to a point, there will come a time when Old Trafford itself would then need to be knocked down to accomodate all the externals and parking etc., but that could be between seasons.

There is nowhere suitable for us to play for a season. As utterly mad as this sounds, would probably need to be a Wembley job. The etihad is a non starter, **** that.

Which leads back to continued use of Old Trafford and putting an extra tier on the South Stand and refurbishing it completely in stages. It's not insurrmountable, the external concourses can be used for drinks and food whilst each section is being tackled, which is more or less happening now in certain parts of the ground. (they have additional outlets open at half time in the tunnel)

All of which takes time by the way so, without wishing to 'slag you off' in pointing out the obvious, the reboot has to start a bit sooner than that! With the new manager, then players.

No point having a spanking new stadium if the team is so poor it's in the championship.

Although I agree, it needs to be addressed up to a point.

BTW, it's still a great stadium, whatever the narrative tries to tell us. The South stand needs to be sorted, but everything else can be updgraded without the need to move, in my (very experienced) opinion.

So do you think in hindsight that Ronny has provided good value for money since his return?

He cost nothing and is our top scorer, so yes.

High wages admittedly but at least he produces.
He wasn't the only player on the pitch last night by the way, the other ten are also supposed to chip in.
