Can we put this to bed now lads, please?

i do not know any of you on here, or RTG now for that matter so i am unlikely to 'take sides' in any of these discussions.

first and foremost, i have absolutely no proof that ANYONE 'stole' from the club, using my own, limited intellect i can presume with confidence that they both made a big mistake buying the club and expecting instant promotion, it was a gamble that did not come off which meant they had to come clean about not being able to fund the club if it did get promoted (basically they were going to struggle even in league 1) and in all honesty it is possibly a gamble that many would take a chance on as the rewards could have been substantial...they probably ended up with no choice but to sell anything that was not nailed down, that does not excuse them mind.

secondly i am in no way privvy to the goings on at boardroom level, most of which i guess will be very private indeed, therefore i have no clue about any other deals Short might have had on the table and i have no idea how long he would have held on, from common knowledge the club were very close to administration when them two popped up...did they 'save the club?' i again have no clue but it must have been a close call so i guess that one comes down to how you wish to view it.

next and i am again using only what i know, KLD and his family have had their fingers in football business for a long time and he was brought up with all the goings on, he has a damn fine (most likely very expensive) team behind him that i feel sure would have gone through the accounts and all else with a fine toothcomb and had there been any irregularities i am sure we would have heard about them and them two would not have been around long enough to sell shares or indeed still be 'allowed' to keep a few, there again, if anything was found to be 'not quite right' then they may have been offered a lower deal to p1ss off and never return basically but the fact that one still has shares makes me think that part is unlikely.

i am, of course, open to any and all private messaging that can show me solid proof of any wrong doings as i would glady join in the 'slagging off brigade' on them two or any proof to show it is all above board, rather than what we have now which is basically hearsay...but then, almost all of this is just hearsay anyway, innit?

I honestly couldn’t give a **** if anybody wants to defend Donald and Methven. There’s obviously two sides to every story and it’s healthy having an alternative view. And I think it’s fair to say the majority of us have a pretty strong one.

really think it needs to be put to bed now tho like

Methven isn’t part of our future, this isn’t the thread to discuss him.

Whilst what they done may not legally be classed as theft it was on whole morally wrong as the money could and should have been used to help us get promoted. Their investment was not good and they did not have the money to help our club compete. They pulled the wool over the supporters eyes and then claimed that Northerners no nothing about business when their charade was exposed. All in all I am pleased that CM is gone and hope SD will follow. If they are your mates and you want to fight their corner fair play but you can't blame the support for not supporting you in this instance as everybody will tell you that they are a couple of chances who may end up making a few quid but I doubt they will get what they thought at the outset.

What they did wasnt technically or legally or dictionarily (?) theft or asset stripping, but it was, in football supporters terms/beliefs theft & asset stripping.
    Supporters I know anyway.

I dont know if they ran out of money, but they certainly ran out if ability.

You do not run down the maintenance of the pitch to save money, unless you do not have the wherewithal or are milking the club.

Posting under "the future" part of this thread, I've only just had a chance to watch Alex Neil's interview. Got to say he comes over really well...I like him a lot.
    Top man.

How can you say it needs to be put to bed when Donald is still a share holder.

Whether it's by luck or judgement we have a manager who looks good at Sunderland.

Many of us would've accepted a manager simply capable of getting us out of L1 but I'd say Neil is easily good enough for the Championship.

When you look at some of the managers we'd have probably settled for I'm feeling quite smug.

Sometimes you get a manager who is just a brilliant fit for the club - Peter Reid & Sam Allardyce are 2 from my time supporting the club. Other times you get a manager who does OK but doesn't seem as comfortable with the history and the stature of the club - people like Poyet, Johnson or McCarthy

Then there are others who just ****ing horrific - Buxton, Butcher, Wilkinson, Di Canio, Moyes, Grayson, Coleman Parkinson.....

I'd say Alex Neil sits comfortable in that top group with Reidy and BSA

Poyet is a good example, had no idea of what effect his words had on the supporters and appeared to look down on us.

Neil just seems like one of the lads.

Absolutely this. He’s my favourite manager we have had since Allardyce. Easily.

I think some people need to look at this with a more simplistic view.

The 25 million was never going to fund us getting out of league 1 as SBC was owed 25 million. How it got paid is irrelevant as it needed paying otherwise we would be Sunderland Newco right now.

The problem was with how the transaction was explained. If SD and CM had simply said the parachute payments went to Short to service thw SBC debt no one would have batted an eyelid. Bottom line is that was a debt that the "club" owed and the club payed it.

Time to move on from the purchase price i think and think about the positives moving forward

Why bring it up again then?
Seems like tne forum has moved on to the managers, current and past.
AN seems like a good fit and is clearly a good championship manager. It’s difficult to be too optimistic after the last few years but I am very hopeful.

The new rules are, if anybody calls you itk (not just yourself surprisingly) then you have to give a cast iron gold plated guarantee that everything you say comes to pass.
    On pain of death.

I think that's what he's trying to say.
