It’s like breathing air. How can I not read these when there is no football? :(

Ultimately, we need news of some sort of activity to come out of the club.

    When do we start preseason?

I can imagine that we will get some stuff over the line in the next week or so. At least I hope.

Anthony apparently missed Ajax training. So that’s a good sign.

Also, it’s being reported that Frenkie De Jong is very close to being done.

We shall see how next week shakes out. If we can get those two, then we will need to focus on defenders.

bet if you checked at least half of them were also linked with the same 2 or 3 other clubs .
Couple of years ago if we were "linked" to a player Spurs and Arsenal pretty much always were as well .

The negative articles are now starting to flowing in. Those that thinks this will not impact preparation are fooling themselves. Players and staff are going to read those articles and until they have good performances to say otherwise, negativity will start sowing seeds of doubt. Therefore, the psychological impact only adds to Ten Hag long list of tasks to manage.

The saddest part is that this is a self inflicted wound and I can’t understand why we would have waited this long to show intent.

Patience is absolutely not a virtue in this case. The longer you wait in football, the more you become emotional about choices made which will effectively lead to unforced errors.

We are firmly in a negative cycle at this point and I can’t imagine that the moral within the club is going to be on a clock dial to change overnight.

I reckon we'll get de Jong sorted in the next day or so and the rest will get done in the next few weeks.

“ Manchester United’s desire to transform themselves into Ajax-upon-Irwell shows no sign of letting up. They’re close to sealing a deal for Frenkie de Jong, are still hoping Christian Eriksen will say yes, have their beady eye on Matthijs de Ligt, maintain an interest in Lisandro Martínez, and are prepping a £70m bid for Antony.”

From one of the today’s dailies…

The de Jong deal does appear to be close, and if it doesn't exactly open 'flood' gates, it'll leave a gate ajar for a couple of others.

It's quite obviously been the crux deal of the summer, the one Ten Hag wanted all along.

Can only repeat the same question - is this not the approach we want now? To support the manager and get who he wants?

    There have been some mad contradictions from certain posters on this thread;

Don't get held to ramsom/just pay what they want.
Don't pay mad wages/why haven't we signed anyone?
We should be using our youth/but why haven't we signed anyone?

Any combination of the above ffs!!

One thing that hasn't changed - the Glazers are still there and are still leeching, thieving ****s. It won't change any time soon. But I would have thought a change in the usual approach of throwing silly money at 'shirt sellers' would be welcomed, not derided? Or is it now a case of just sign someone, anyone, just please ****ing sign someone.

Let's see what happens after de Jong ffs, Antony would be a decent signing and any more after that I see as a bonus, he's got the rest of the current squad to work with otherwise.

You know, all those youth we're supposed to promote (or not, depending on which side of the bed you get out of).

That is more like it! That’s the type of execution that we have not seen in a long time.

Well his club and United have agreed a fee but the player has not yet been asked if he wants the move. Hopefully we hear more tomorrow.

Tyrell Malacia is exactly the type of signing I've been talking about where we bring in players who we develop and improve.

He may turn out to be good or not, I don't know enough about him, but bigger names have flopped often enough. The Dutch link suggests Ten Hag's influence and I'm hoping he will develop under him.

I'd be quite happy with more of the same tbh.
