I tried to bump the quote and response but it only bumped mine. Yeah we had a little chat about the shirt but there was complaints that the thread was going off track.

Im probably wrong but sometimes you’ve got to take what you can get,we’re not that attractive yet to a massive sponsor but hopefully won’t be long

What's the problem with having a betting company as a sponsor?

Nothing really, I guess the Internet betting companies think football fans are the best mugs to make them rich?

I think they just know they're targeting a primarily male demographic, which is a safe bet (pun intended) if your business is getting people to gamble.

The thing I take issue with, is the idea that we (or any business) shouldn't take sponsorship money from a company that makes money from gambling. Were the same people who are now expressing concerns about having a betting company as sponsor expressing the same concerns when Vaux was the sponsor? Hardly a morally virtuous business. Likewise, if Coca-Cola became the sponsor...full of sugar, addictive, indirectly responsible for all sorts of social problems and premature deaths.

Bottom line, for me, as long as I'm not embarrassed by the company or the company name being on the shirt (like wonga, for example), I don't care. That's capitalism. Take personal responsibility for your actions and mistakes, don't blame the pictures on the TV or sponsor boards at sporting events.

A betting company sponsor is hardly Saudiesque, I’d be surprised if 90% of those bemoaning it haven’t had little bet in the last couple of years.
