Today will mostly be spent watching Spurs Twitter argue whether this is or isn't Lucas Paqueta...

I don't. Might depend on who we can shift and when, though.
Really need another striker, in my opinion. A Cavani, Dzeko type would be fine.

I think backup for Dier and a creative midfielder are the two most pressing issues remaining. Richarlison's ability to play down the centre is sufficient cover for Kane imo. In the two seasons we've not had any cover for him whatsoever, we've not only lost goals but invariably the knock on effect has been to weaken other areas too by playing players out of position (one of usually one of Son, Lucas or Bergwijn).

I wouldn't complain if we don't manage to solve them this window, as overall we've exceeded all of my expectations.

Rumours of another wide attacker (Zaniolo, Depay etc.) also don't seem to be going away which is puzzling as we seem well stocked there (Kulu, Son, Richarlison, Lucas, Perisic).

I agree, the remaining incomings will probably depend on how much we bring in for the flotsam.

I think we still lack a player who can potentially unlock a defence. Someone we can bring on for a CB if we need a goal but someone who can also cover out wide.

    Nah, mate.

I think two more in but I think they’ll be final week signings. A creative attacking mid/ another wide forward and then a CB to cover Dier, either an up and comer or an old head.

Immediate priority is outgoings, though I also think most of those will end up happening in the final week too.

Be disappointing if they are, still need someone with creativity and guile in midfield imo. Also as pretty much everyone else has said, a CB to compete/cover Dier too

Mike McGrath is saying we’ll make Romero’s loan permanent, personally thought we’d already had, it’s a no brainer it was gonna get done anyway.

Also mentions we could sign a creative mid before the end of the month if the opportunity is there.

The Mail are claiming that the club is a little irritated with the four transfer listed players. Apparently all have had solid interest but have been hesitant towards committing to moves.

Just to add onto the previous post, it’s worth noting now that Romero’s fee takes our spending to pretty much the full £150m budget.

    Richarlison £50m + £10m addons.
    Bissouma £25m + £10m addons.
    Spence £12.5m + £7.5m addons.
    Romero £41m.
    Lenglet £4m (rumoured loan fee).

Pre-addons that’s around £132.5m if rumoured fees are correct, with addons it’s about £160m. From a net perspective there is about just over £35m left though from Bergwijn, Clarke and CCV’s sales, plus if any of the four listed players do indeed get sold, that’ll also boost potential spending capacity. I have a feeling that we may get a fee for Reguilon as I can see one or two clubs in need of a LB but dumb and dumber plus Winks will likely be loan deals with options - that probably won’t get triggered :headbang:

It was mentioned a few weeks ago (can't remember the source) that the date to make the loan permanent wasn't 30th June as they usually are for obvious reasons, but sometime in August

Nice of whoever it was to be specific...

So the photo is of him in a Spurs kit. There's a slight snag, though...

I’ll reiterate that I think the most significant thing the cash injection did this summer was let us buy quality before having to sell/loan unwanted players. It’s one thing telling a player we’re intending to buy a replacement, it’s another for that player to be training away from the team and seeing another player on the pitch in their place.

A major problem for us in the past was players knowing we didn’t have the depth to freeze them out, so they always knew they were one or two injuries or suspensions away from being back on the pitch. Now they know - if they want to actually play football then they’ll have to stop looking for the ideal club that will pay them what they want, and just take the move and go. And if they don’t then it’s their problem.

Of course it’s still difficult because the money gap from the PL to other teams is massive, even for the elite clubs abroad (which let’s face it aren’t the destinations for the players we want to let go), so players getting wages they want without a loan is always going to be difficult for any player leaving a PL club. But I think our approach this summer leaves no doubt to the players frozen out as to their status at the club, which is an important difference to past approaches.

Depends how much it is for. They clearly like the player and would probably have bought him this summer if they had the cash. Hopefully we’re not pricing him out, just take the money next summer and it’s a good solution for all parties.

They’ll just try and loan him again next summer, I’m almost certain of it. They know they’ve got us over a barrel. Only way they’ll take the buy option is if he has a storming season and multiple clubs become interested, by that point they’ll then likely do what Betis done with Lo Celso or what Atalanta did with Romero, buy the player then sell for immediate profit.

Ndombele in preliminary talks with Napoli. Unsure if loan or permanent at the moment.

Did think they’d make their move though, especially as Fabian is almost a PSG player.

    This is interesting...

I'm not sure too many season long loans include this as a clause. You'll often see clauses that allow a recall in the event that a certain quota of appearances isn't met, or if the parent club is hit with injuries. But not too many like this.

I'd imagine quite a few clubs will be monitoring his situation quite closely. Fiorentina and one of the other La Liga clubs were supposed to be very interested.

I`d still like to see another top CB and versatile creative attacking player brought in.
