I know the majority on here (probably me included if truth be told) don't want the Tories anywhere near running the country, but in another victory for south coast domination, Portsmouth North MP has dropped out, thereby meaning Southampton born and bread Rishi Sunak is the new PM.

First on his agenda is to publicly back Ralph and give a tax cut to all those Ralph in supporters.

Look at this image and dream of the time when responsible grownups are once more running the country.

It’ll be interesting to see how many nutters get cabinet posts in the name of “party unity”. Does he bring braverman back in exchange for her support for example ?

It will be fascinating to see how his cabinet lines up. If he has any sense, I would have thought that he would avoid making any appointments from the factions that have caused so many issues of late. I would not be surprised to see a load of new faces who are quite bland as well as potentially younger. He should be ditiching the likes so Patel, JRM, Braverman and going for new people. If he has any sesne, he should be pursuing a similar pattern to Cameron and have a clean sweep of the politicians who put the Conservatives in this mess. Get it wrong and he will be out of the door.

The interesting scenario will be to see how Starmer deals with him. I have a nasty feeling that SKS might come up short......

Yet again Southampton puts Portsmouth in it's place.

He's one of our own, he's one of our ohhhhwn, Rishi Sunak he's one of our own.

Whatever you think about the Tories, a PM from Indian descent is a positive move.

My ideal PM would be of Indian and Italian descent, but I don't think that will happen <laugh>

Yeah, but the chances of finding some one like that would be almost impossible.

Can I just say that the silence on here is deafening considering we have ANOTHER Prime Minister today.

Not expecting praise, but there was a lot more activity the day Liz misTrus came in.

FWIW, I think we are stuck with a Tory government until 2024 as they won't call an election and lets hope that he can sort out most the mess they caused, but not so much to get them another term. That would be a win win surely?

I think a lot of people are quite jaded. I want to complain about having another PM foisted on us but we can’t exactly do anything about it. They will never call an election as they will lose it too badly

It’s looking like Sunak is dispensing with the chance to steer clear of all the useless rabble that was in the cabinet under Truss and Johnson. Some have been cleared away but he could have tried to wipe the board. Guess he is going for a party unity approach which involves appointing some nutters to key roles

    I have lost heart.
Hearing part of his speech in which he claimed he/the Tories have integrity and compassion, hearing him praise Johnson for doing a great job (not sure of the exact words), hearing him lay blame for the economic situation on the pandemic (without mentioning the billions lost to fraud that he didn’t go after and the money wasted on worthless PPE), also blaming Putin for the economic situation (he has a point with the gas situation but he should remember that his party eliminated most of our gas storage facilities) and he never said one word to explain why the economy was already in such a mess as a result of Tory rule for the last decade and a bit AND THE PART HE PLAYED IN IT.

All I hope is that the video, in which he clearly states that he is trying to change how money is allocated, and his desire to give it to wealthier (Tory voting) constituencies and not to the poorer constituencies that really need it, is played on a loop on all social media outlets so that it is never forgotten and swept under the carpet before the general election.

He’d only look slightly less psychotic than Dominic Raab
