Hereford 12.20 No Fixed Charged On a career low mark and up in trip with tongue strap added. The Mulholland yard who is in good form at the moment does well at Hereford ( runs 24 wins 7 placed 12 PL 11.07 last 5 seasons in handicap hurdles). Talented rider does the steering. Should run well for each way purposes.
In the (12:55) at Hereford, a Class-4 Maiden Hurdle over an extended 2m3f, will take a real chance with the outsider Whodini. Well-bred, if nothing else, being by Conduit out of a Beneficial dam. Just a very modest plunge at a big price. Craig Nichol rides for the Oliver Greenall yard. Believe it or not, 30/1 (PP) is the huge best price at time of writing- Goes without saying, E/W best option.
Whodini ran a good race to finish 4th after being up there all the way. Winner won by a country mile and could well be useful.
Holy Moon has been some mare! Not often will you find a broodmare that has produced so many winners. Thus far nine of her eleven foals to race have been winners. OK, many have been for the Botti family in Italy but they have mostly achieved very high RPR ratings. Her 2015 offspring was Sea Of Class who William Haggas trained to win four times, three were group 1's culminating in the Arc de Triomphe. 2019 foal is Waterville who has looked very useful for AOB. The relevance of all this is that her latest offspring runs today at Kempton in the 3:38 AMLETO, like Sea Of Class, is by Sea The Stars. The market has been nearly all for one horse today, the John Gosden trained Lion Tamer. That horse wears a hood so must come with risks and at 8/1 AMLETO looks worth a bet to make a winning debut.
One who should run well in the Class-4 Novices' Hurdle at Hereford (15:10), is the Walk In The Park gelding, Stroll On By. Competent and experienced NH jockey, Jonathan Burke, on board for the Charlie Longsdon yard. 5/1 (Bet365) best price at time of writing.
Be very interesting amleto is one of the biggest drifters of the day and lion tamer in the same race is one of the biggest backed bet of the day
The English Grand National winner Noble Yeats won well today in Wexford. Looked a nice effort and he didn't even look overly fit to my eye. I was a bit surprised as I thought given his connections we would be seeing a couple of below par efforts under 3 miles before another tilt at that race. Wonder will they go for the Gold Cup
Thanks for posting that - I would have completely missed it otherwise. I think it was a dodgy old race though - the bottom one was stones out of it and the fav was maybe flattered by his proximity to Galvin last time. I guess Noble Yeats will get a few pounds for that - not sure it was exactly the plan?
Kevin Manning bowing out without any fuss as well. Whatever your thoughts were on his abilities, he won his fair share of big ones over the years and has stood the test of time with a career spanning about 4 decades long. Married to Jim Bolger's daughter Una, he rode his entire professional career for Jim, I think. Will surely take some full time role in that operation behind the scenes and he walks away having left a good legacy behind himself. Happy retirement to Kevin.
Always felt Manning gave his all with every ride, a jockey you’d be happy he was carrying your money. He also showed he can do it on the very biggest of stages with New Approach. As you say, he’ll likely stay with Bolger and I wish him every success.
Good jockey, won me plenty over the years most notably intense focus who I tipped up on here many years ago at 33/1 in the dewhurst. Many mocked me for it.
