Plus I thought no he was 2 yd too far out of his goal, if he’s nearer his line he saves it.

Re messi goal - It’s always genius when a superstar scores. Who can forget gareth bale’s amazing penalty against the USA.

Yesterday there was a puke inducing mbappe w*nkathon going on after a scuffed first goal and one off his thigh from 2 yards for the second. Yes I know he had to be there etc. But the story of the second French goal wasn’t ‘great cross great finish’ as we heard… but Rasmus (who otherwise had a good game) switching off at the back post (sound familiar Leeds fans?) AND more relevantly - terrible goal keeping from schmeichel - which never got a mention.

Unfortunately missed that game milky but I'd imagine if we did make it as far as the quarter finals then the French would be too strong for us ?

Jammy Junior reckons we've brought a half fit Kyle Walker to try and nullify Mbappe's pace should that match ever happen by the way.

We English have become immune to little Scotland being jealous because we are taking part. Only two teams make the final and i would rather get knocked out than lose the final. There should be another cup played for by emerging third world nations that scotland could qualify for with some luck

Next World Cup is 48 teams, so some hope for the "emerging" nations.

Thought they changed their minds on that because they think it will affect crowds as the qualifier games would effectively become irrelevant.

Jammy junior may be on to something. French were the better side but the Danes had quite a few good chances and they’re not a side with that much of an attacking threat. France offer plenty going forward obviously but don’t think they’re great defensively. A contender for sure but I don’t think there’s a standout team in this World Cup.

does that help ‘declining’ nations like Scotland who peaked in the 70’s. When I say peak, it’s a relative thing obviously

Probably not, just might not get shock omissions like the Italians this time around or the Dutch in 2002/2018. etc.

1974 team was (approx) 50-50 LUFC and Rangers. With Bremner as captain. So yes it was pretty good. Unbeaten and never outplayed in their group which included Brazil and a very good Yugoslavia. Went out on GD. I’m biased but Bremner the best player on the pitch in all 3 games.

I often wonder how Bremner would be remembered if he had been from one of the ‘major’ footballing countries.

for sure he’d have sorted the lack of brain cells issue the current England team have.

In fact thinking further it’s not really a ‘lack of brain cells’ it’s not having a player on the pitch, ;probably in midfield, who sees it’s going wrong and takes ownership snd by sheer force of will (and being a bloody good player as well) makes it start to tick - which is Bremner to a tee
