I seem to recall the discussion was around the implications for our senior keeper in Ingram, rather than questioning the signing itself.
The two academy boys Robinson and Cartwheel, and on Lo-Tutala’s behalf having Ingram and already having signed Baxter with a view to making him permanent. It still seems an odd signing for both club and player.
Would’ve liked to see Ndayishimiye. Only ever seen snippets of him but if WhoScored is anything to go by, he’s having a great season. He’s exactly the type of midfielder we needed in the summer and the type we should be looking at in January.
On current form I’d not be spending significant money on Baxter, if he reaches levels of last season again I would , but even then he’s got a pretty torrid injury record for a keeper and at present isn’t doing it when he’s on the pitch either. Which is odd as he’s struggling at the things he was very good at for the most part last season
spending any money on baxter would be such a waste of money he's not a terrible goalkeeper in anyway, he is just nothing special, and offers nothing more really that many many other keepers dont
He was fantastic last season which I don't think was just a flash in the pan. If Greaves wasn't local people would be saying the same about him as he's had a very poor season compared to last year.
See on present form id agree but last season he was statistically the best goalkeeper in the league based on xG prevented etc. i don’t think it’s a coincidence his drop in form has coincided with the side being ripped apart
He probably just needs games. The last 3 years he's failed to make more than 20 league appearances a season and there's a very good chance he could make it the fourth year in a row this year too. He's a really good young keeper but he just needs to keep fit
He doesn't just need games, he needs an organised defence in front of him which we have not had this year. There's a reason he and Greaves were much better last season than this.
That's not true though. The defence was a car crash for the 1st half of last season, we just compensated by playing more defensively, switching to a back 3 and playing 2 holding midfielders in front of them. Even our no.10 and striker from last year (Honeyman & Magennis) have better defensive qualities than offensive ones.
He didn't play in the first half of last season, although I disagree it was a car crash, as despite us losing a lot of games, they were generally by a single goal margin.
