Bournemouth are spending £20M+ on a forward from Villarreal. They won’t be signing Stewart, thankfully.
He’s not been linked but as @Fly Me To The Moon mentioned, Adam Forshaw would be a great fit as an Evans short term stop gap. And now Leeds have agreed a deal with a top centre midfielder. Surely he will be available now.
Had to pinch myself waking up this morning. Since I finished work yesterday evening, we have signed a golden boy nominee with immense potential, all reputed outlets are saying we have won the race to sign another golden by nominee (Gelhardt), and now I wake up to read an interview with our own future golden boy nominee Chris Rigg who sounds very much like he wants to be at this club. Considering yesterday we lost our captain for the season, it’s incredible how positive things feel. What a time to be a Sunderland fan. We need to enjoy this.
That's a very good signing for Leeds. He completes that all-action American midfield with Adams and Aaronsen already there. I think Musah might be a little out of their price range after an impressive world cup.
Night and day from 2 years ago when KLD first took over and some of our previous window's business had been to bring in McFadzean, Graham, Remi Matthews and Feeney from Everton The club feels in such a good place at the moment - of course we have to prove that on the pitch and there will be bumps along the way, but the direction of travel is a world away from the end of the Short era and all the way through the Madrox era
Lots of talk about Geldart and Simms, know nothing about the Leeds lad and we know lots about Simms, if it's either or which do you lads think we should sign. For me better the devil you know so Ellis gets my vote. Anyone!
Joe Gelhardt. Played a huge role for Leeds in staying up last season. Only scored 2 goals but his work rate etc was tremendous. He's a very different type of player to Simms. But he's got much greater pedigree in that he's been around the Leeds first team for 18 months whereas Simms is an afterthought at Everton I really like Simms. But in Simms you have a player Everton want to sell and we could very "easily" sign in the Championship. But Gelhardt is seen by Leeds as a future England international. It's a completely different market we are operating in now versus the summer.
Good question mate. Gelhardt is the better all round player and i think will have the better career. Simms is the better finisher though and he knows the club and what TM expects of him. So to answer your question ..... both lol Cant pick tbh as i really want both, gelhardt on loan and simms permanently will do nicely
I've still got a sneaky feeling we end up with all three. We will know what the club thinks later today when we announce Gelhardt. You have to think if there's a chance Simms returns then Gelhardt doesn't get the number 9. But if the club have written off the chance of Simms coming back, Gelhardt gets 9. I know everyone tells me I read too much into squad numbers but I don't care
It looks like the Everton chaos may have ****ed the Simms deal for this window, whereas Geldhardt chatter from Leeds indicates it's done. Unknown what's better for us....we know what we'll get from Ellis and he knows us so would settle a lot quicker you'd think. But Geldhardt seems highly thought of and might be a better prospect, even as a loan.
That is just pure outrageous brilliant and brought the biggest smile to my face. Love this club and what is going on here.
Looks like Everton are appointing Dyche today instead of Bielsa. Personally I think thats great news for our pursuit of Simms. Dyche doesn't like youth. Bielsa does.
Have to admit I thought different. I can see Dyche going 2 up top and back to a really solid base. Go forward early and play from there. I can see Simms being a 3rd choice in that sort of system, and even coming on last 15 to pinch a goal at 0-0. Time will tell but I dont see Everton doing a lot of business last few days.
