Quite a few reports today saying Burnley, Millwall and a few other clubs are interested in signing Xavier Simons.
Is there anyone on trial that will be playing for the 21s tonight? At ferriby. Might Bob down. Can settle some scores (linnet style).
Yes. A modern day Chopper Harris not have been able to play the role of nasty bastard for us as he is only 5’8”.
Championship side Hull City remain confident of securing a deal to sign Xavier Simons from Chelsea before Tuesday's 11pm transfer deadline. The Tigers face growing competition from Millwall, Swansea and Bristol City for Simons, with their Championship rivals scrambling to try and do a deal after it emerged last month Liam Rosenior was keen on making his move permanent. Simons came off the bench for a six-minute cameo in Saturday's thumping 3-0 win over QPR at the MKM Stadium in what was just his second Championship outing. Despite his lack of minutes, Rosenior is a keen admirer of Simons and is working hard to secure him on a long-term deal as discussions with Chelsea continue. The player is said to be happy at City and keen to stay at the club, writing on Instagram on Sunday: '"3 points and a clean sheet the team was superb in front of our amazing fans - so happy to get some more minutes." Speaking to Hull Live, vice-chairman Tan Kesler confirmed the club were locked in talks with Chelsea, and were keen to repeat the deal they did with Brighton and Hove Albion last January, when they made Ryan Longman's loan move permanent on deadline day. Any agreement for Simons is expected to be finalised on Tuesday, with Rosenior determined to see the 19-year-old midfielder remain part of his plans, and not just for the rest of this season. Simons is out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of this season, though the Blues do have the option to extend it by a further 12 months. "I hope so," City's boss told Hull Live ahead of the weekend win over Rangers. "We're in negotiations with Xavi at the moment and the club are speaking with Chelsea at the moment about his loan agreement and where that is. "We're in negotiations about whether he stays here on loan, whether he goes back. Whatever happens in the short term, I would love to work with him in the long term and that's something I've made really, really clear. "I really like the kid, I think he's got a great future and we've just got to work with Chelsea and see if the best thing for him is to get his football away from here (until the end of the season) - I think his best place is to stay here with us and I think he's going to get his opportunity in the end, he's just got to be patient.
Saw him play several times for Blackburn last season. Usually played as the left sided CB in a four or central/left in a three. Decent player at Championship level.
