    <laugh> if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.

I really thought we’d learned from previous mistakes, but we’ve shown our true colours this window.

A genuine opportunity to win the title and we’re looking for Chelsea’s scraps, while they’re sweeping up all the top talent across Europe.

    ****ing sickening.

This club will never do what’s required.

    I dunno about that man.

Trossards gonna be a good signing.
Kiwior is one for the future.

    Caceido may still happen..

Jesus, Zinchenko,Tomiyasu, White , Odegaard, Gabriel, Ramsdale, Martinelli, Partey... Just look at Edu's track record soo far, his signings have been elite.

I’d argue it’s Arteta’s management of these players and growth as a manager that has maximised the abilities of these players in a system that works.

Let’s not forget that if we want to credit Edu with these signings, we also have to criticise him for the decisions of Mari, Willian, Cedric, Lokonga, offering Mustafi contract extension etc…

We also haven’t been able to recoup a lot of the fees for unwanted players and lost out due to free transfers/receiving meagre fees.

We never seem to get deals over the lines for our #1 targets, either.

Look, Edu has done some good things, but there’s plenty he’s done which people are rightfully unhappy with him about too.

Signing Jorginho whilst allowing Enzo AND Caicedo to join Chelsea sends out the completely wrong message.

I would argue even Guardiola and Pep get some transfers wrong - on the whole though Edu has been exceptional.

I don't know if Mudryk will be worth £95m or Caceido £90m - but there has to be a point where you say ' No that's too much'. If they don't think a player is worth the asking price they shouldn't buy them. It's that simple. That was the case with Mudryk and may or may not be the case with Caceido.

I couldn't care less what Chelsea are doing that Club has lost the plot. Half of these signings clearly have nothing to do with Graham Potter.

I'm not saying Klopp or Pep get every decision right.

My point is other clubs are taking some of our prime targets away from us because we're not willing to go the extra mile. And although we can't compete with some clubs on every deal, you do have to question the Arsenal hierarchy when they start missing out on most of the first choice players we want.

The fees for Mudryk and Caicedo are too high - WAY too high - but if Arteta truly believes in their ability and potential, then sometimes you have to push the boat out. I'm not saying we should do this every time, but on occasion, we may have to in order to fend off competition and complete deals faster for players we consider to be special. There's a balance that needs to be struck.

Also, let's be honest. If signing Caicedo for £80m+ propels us to a league title, who the hell is going to care how much he cost? It'll be worth it.

I don't agree that Edu has been exceptional, either. As I said, he's done some things that are positive, but there are also some negatives as well. I'm still not 100% convinced on him yet.

1.5 year contract isn’t that bad I guess. Still not ideal that we’re signing him though.

I think they are still looking at add Caceido as well as he's a long term target. Just gonna depend on how stubborn Brighton are being this window.

Would be a good move for him, but does this not leave us light in midfield?

wow, 12m for jorginho. That's a bargain really considering what you have to pay for a top player nowadays

Its a weird one, and one I didnt see coming.
Jorginho is a meh player, he will sometimes be ****e, he will sometimes be awesome and everything in between.
He is inconsistent as ****, and ageing.
For £12m he might be worth a punt.

yeah he shouldn't be a key player (bit too unathletic) but for 12m as a solid back up thats a bargain. I've seen other bang average players go for far more

I suppose it depends on the environment and structure he’s playing in too. Maybe Arteta thinks he’ll be well suited to the system? He’s considered to be tactically and technically proficient so I guess we’ll see.

Only a 1.5 year contract as well, I was worried it’d be 2.5 or 3.5 years.

Yeah thats why I dont think its a bad deal.
Probability is, he wont be very good, but Arteta knows his system better than I do
And at 12m on an 18 month contract, it wont be the end of the world if he dont work out, and if he does do a job for Arteta, then its jobs a'goodun. He's probably taking a pay cut too. I dont imagine he will be on any more than 60-70k a week.

Lot of Arsenal fans blowing this way out of proportion.

Put it this way, them signing the Premier league proven Jorginho (even if he has been proven to me middling) for £12m for 18 months....makes a lot more sense than us buying Enzo Fernandez for £105m because he had a decent couple of games at the world cup.

Unless we plan on trying to get a bit of money for him, I just don’t see the benefit of this. Why?

He’s a lovely bloke, but seriously? It’s time to move him on now. I hope he’s not part of our 2023/24 plans.
