It’s £29bn and about £22bn was spent on testing which allowed to some extent the economy to reopen. Let’s not forget Labour wanted the country in more lockdowns during a pandemic that cost the economy about £450bn

In contrast, the USA believe it cost their economy around $16Tn

I’ve no doubt a lot was wasted and given to slimeball friends of politicians, but a bit of context always helps.

MPs have backed plans aimed at enforcing minimum service levels for some sectors during strikes.

Under the bill, some employees, including in the rail industry and emergency services, would be required to work during industrial action - and could be sacked if they refuse.

The bill passed by 315 votes to 246 but will face further scrutiny in the House of Lords before it becomes law.

In years to come todays kids will be discussing how much time they got off school due to the lockdowns, then when they went back to school their maths and english teacher, Mr Trebs went on strike.

Anyone know if the kids will still get their school dinner today, or will they have to starve? <whistle>

Nope in the Headteachers Union - NAHT, our pay and conditions are decent so not justified to strike - which puts paid to this right wing notion everyone goes out on strike bcos they feel like it.

We still support the cause against the underfunding in schools and decent pay and conditions for teachers though, and will hold this inept, corrupt government's feet to the fire every opportunity we get.

Anyway...it's hard work today, time for an early liquid lunch. Don't forget to toot your horns!

So when you got your feet up in front of the TV for the Man Utd game, will Rashford have to be subbed off so he can go out and feed the kids who couldn't be taught today?

Can you remember during covid when teachers were saying kids need their education? Closing the schools resulted in a loss of 0.3 to 0.9 years of schooling for these kids.

You'd think teachers would put the kids first after all that and not let them fall further behind :emoticon-0106-cryin

You wait until he gets his monthly wage this month, and the Mrs wants to know how come he had all these days off (striking).....****te will hit the fan. Unless he's getting paid for striking or taking it as holiday. I don't know how all that works with unions - I know it can be a pain in the arse to make adjustment of hours compared to deducting a full day.
