No issue with it at all for me. Just means he’s going to be playing to make the step up to a higher level with or without us.
Thinking of Billy Whitehurst I remember a game at Boothferry Park against Bristol City Their centre half cleared a ball and Billy flew into him a second or two later. The defender took five minutes to recover. Billy wasnt even booked!
I might have dreamt this for years. But wasn't there a documentary (black and white) of a game Jack Taylor was refereeing and he was miked up, a sort of one off and first time documentary. I have it in my head it was Stuart Pearson who got flattened and as Jack Taylor said 'are you ok', he replied 'yes, but I'm going to have him. Mid through the second half Pearson did get him and as he passed Jack Taylor he said 'I told you i'd get him'... it might be my total imagination.
That was also Eaves' signature move. Although generally he did get booked and half the time we'd intercept the pass and his pointless foul would ruin a good break. I don't miss that.
In the 1980s it was different Rarely would people get booked in the first half - although I did see Chris Simpkin get booked at the very start of the match around 1970 when Grimsby kicked off and Simpkin clattered into one of the two Grimsby players.
First time I went there we drew 1-1. it was about 1979 /80 and Nick Deacy equalized for us in the 2nd half They were the sensible ones
I prefer Simons to slater based on what I’ve seen. Severely lacked any form of physicality in the midfield last night with Slater and Seri
