Arne Slot and Sergio Conceicao should probably be on the list too, given various journalists have put their names on suggesting them as possible shortlistees in recent days
I'm only putting in those with serious heat around their names at the moment, Slot and Conceicao have been more "oh and Spurs also have on their shortlist..." type of mentions, more so than "Spurs are really considering a move for...", I'd say they're more contingency plans at the moment more so than genuine contenders. If they pick up more traction in the coming days though I'll get them added.
If the new one makes it through the 23/24 season, he'll be the first coach in 5 seasons to actually complete a whole season. How ****ed is that...?
This was the first sentence I wrote on my OP of this thread, a few weeks shy of exactly three years ago... Almost where we're at now except it seems more likely that Stellini will be calling the shots more so than Mason. I do find it quite surprising Stellini's remained, he's been Conte's right hand man for some time now and usually the manager's close backroom staff are canned simultaneously with the manager, maybe Stellini's looking to branch out from next season and will be using previous games in charge of us plus the final ten to try and put his name out there?
Based on the club statement it appears that Conte's coaching team are staying until the end of the season, so maybe it's a true mutual agreement as opposed to a lip service one Compare that the the mass cull of coaching staff we had when Ramos or the ubermensch were jettisoned, at least there's continuity on the training ground for the last couple of months
It’s just baffling, getting rid of Conte but keeping all his staff is just odd even by Spurs standards
Might explain the length of time before we announced Conte's departure: it's similar to Nagelsmann at Bayern, he might no longer be in charge but he's not sacked, if that makes any ...yeah, I'll stop there, as between us and Bayern we're making replacing managers unnecessarily obtuse
I just hope Levy isn't looking at this as a long audition for Stellini and Mason as the cheap and easy option.
I’m sure some folk were saying this Conte gig will leave Levy nowhere to hide what does this mean now that the Conte saga has gone the way it has? It has to be Nagelsmann or bust imo…he’s a great fit We are in a bit of a conundrum imo if Stellini and Mason get us 4th then they will be offered contracts…this is how Levy will see it Other than that makes sense with 10 games to go to leave these 2 in charge…even though I don’t think the fans will be getting the swashbuckling football they crave
He should be chasing Nagelsmann and agreeing a contract with him ready for the summer. I expect it won’t be just us after him if he’s still free come the summer Maybe he could then discuss what the new manager wants and get his useless scouts out there but…
It's the opposite of odd. In fact it's exactly what would happen in any organisation other than a football club.
I don't think scouts are that important in signing the sort of players we need. There is so much data available on every player in each top league that finding someone off the grid is close to impossible. The most important discussion with any new manager is which of the current squad including those loaned out should be retained. The list of possible players that might improve the squad would be nearly identical for all our rivals. The limiting feature is who we can attract not judging their talent.
