Well for 1 he covered more ground yesterday than any other player on the pitch, according to the statistics put up by the PL. Many good crosses yesterday, some rubbish. He fought hard, good tackles. He had a high rating on completed passes too.
Fame, notoriety, ridicule, tabloid interest, his good self, delusional megalomania, about 3 loyal followers, his record, a goal, negative equity, and a warm heart. May the hinges of his compassion never grow rusty.
I don't see any comparison; JB, whom I love, is a reformed character, something JT is pathologically incapable of.
That is fair. Terry is arrogant and thinks he can get away with whateveer he wants, and is a bully to boot. Barton is more stupid; hence his associations with English Defence League members
It has to be said that last night was another totally ineffectual performance by Barton. While the old stalwart Shaun Derry made some howlers he did at least look committed and it was no surprise whan NW was sending in his instructions via him rather than Barton near the end. I think Warnock has got himself in that situation that so many managers find themselves in: having put so much faith (not to mention £80k a week of the owners cash) in Barton he feels he must keep playing him even when he is clearly not delivering the goods. This is a big mistake IMO.
Barton is there for one reason, and that is £80,000 per week. No other reason. His heart was still with us when he left but he was too outspoken, and wanted a longer contract than Ashley would give him so his agent engineered a move away. If you've got players there just for money then they don't perform. We've had our fare share of those (Duff, Owen, Geremi, Babayaro....this could turn into a very long list). Bartons set pieces are bad more often than not, his best crosses for us last season where from open play. He's not really a free kick taker and we played him out of position on the right, which worked brilliantly when we had Carroll.
Quality player. Not sure where you guys are playing him but he is most effective as a right midfielder. A lot seem to think he is better centrally but we never saw the best of him until he was on the right side. I suppose you guys signed SWP for that though.
He's playing in the centre at the moment, not very well. I think all this changing his image bullshit is ruining his game, we haven't seen him snarling and getting anyone by the throat! Some bit of business replacing him with Cabaye.
He's a pain in the arse attention whore off the field. Not a criminal anymore but still a pain in the arse. On the field he's a good player.
If only. Cabaye replaced Nolan. Gabriel "my head is full of brie" Obertan replaced Joey on the right. Lets just say he's not pulling up any trees.
Pain in the arse - no doubting that. Good player - yet to show it for us. If only we could turn back time!
