speak to Donkey Toon - I think he has covered this numerous times (possible all in the same article). However, I suggest that you read through the finances that were published seeing as we were a PLC and you may soon logically come to sense

Yes I used to when we were a PLC under Freddie. Though Donkey Toon knows and understands this far better that I do.

i too HAD shares! freddie sheppard interviewed on talk sport was asked about the finances ,went ito it quite a bit ,out of the 2 of them i know which 1 wouldnt allow the club to go under and which 1 doesnt give atoss about anything unless it feeds his very large pocket.

I didn't have shares - I used to be an accountant though and have a first class honours degree in Maths if that is relevant. If you think we would be in the Premiership (possibly existence) with Freddie still at the helm thats your opinion and I doubt it that I would be able to talk you round so best we leave it there mate.

Ashley is about making money, not winning football matches.

I think even the most simple minded of people would agree our finances have improved remarkably under Ashley. He is a businessman, therefore we are never going to spending large amounts again (a good thing in quite a few peoples minds). Yes he has made his mistakes, but he does seem to be learning from them, due to that my opinion has improved. Similarly to others though, I bloody wish he would get rid of Llambias who is just a dickhead. If Ashley hadn't got rid of Mort, I think many peoples opinion of him would be different.

Still cant stand the bloke, he just comes across as completely ignorant and stupid.

By adding another 3-4 good players to the squad in January we could be genuinely giving the top 6 a run for their money IMO but he seems intent on just letting the team plod along hoping that the poor fringe players will deliver the results.

My opinion of him hasn't deteriorated though, generally just stayed the same, hes got a lot of things right but for the wrong reasons.

I wonder how this poll will look once Ba & Tiote leave for the ACON and we're struggling because our squad isn't strong enough?

No reason to say we can't do both though.

The timeframes vague, but I've remained pretty steady since promotion really. We made sensible signings to go back up and keep improving, my season ticket price has actually lowered, and the football I'm watching (bar recent weeks) is better than I've seen in years. 4 years ago we finished bottom half under Shepherd with a ludicrous wage bill, a squad of aging 'stars' and were going nowhere but down. Last year we just finished bottom half with a (thin) squad of hungry young talent and have improved in the summer. Our league position may be higher than we eventually expect to finish, but even top 10 is progress compared to most of the last 7-8 years.

There's still potential for him to drop a trademark bollock and do something daft, but frankly he's certainly no worse than an awful lot of Newcastle chairmen, or other Premiership clubs for that matter.

For me, it remains the same. I don't like the **** and we are doing well in spite of him, not because of him. He is just lucky we have an amazing scout in Graham Carr who can get us these cheap class acts from abroad

Its a very fair point Joker. I'll set another one up later on as it would be good to compare how views change given the factors you flag.

Reckon if he got rid of Llambias and appointed someone who understood football a bit better everyone would appreciate him a lot more.

Otherwise, can't complain about how we've done following the disaster season can we?
