1118: BBC Humberside's Matt Dean has been told by Hull City's head of football operations, Adam Pearson that "nothing is happening, period" - either in or out - on the transfer front at the KC Stadium.

Bit disappointing, but atleast all the focus will be on our match tonight i suppose.

As i've just said else where, it's not like they promised us some blow your socks off signings then back tracked on it, was it?

They've managed to keep onto our better players and send the unwanted ones away, as well as sign a few. Might be good business in the end, you never know.

Just as I suspected ,there never was any cash available to Nick and only the promise of refusing offers for Chester,Stewart etc. convinced him to actually take over as permanent manager. The usual "Mushroom Syndrome"treatment for the fans.At least they didn't promise to "blow our socks off" this time.

You're right, i know you are. It's just nice to be able to speculate on ridiculous signings on deadline day, and he's shat all over that! And like you say, we've kept hold of our players and that really is the most important thing.

You're not suspecting, you are outright calling Mr Allam, Adam Pearson and Nick Barmby liars.

They didn't promise anything. They've said since day one that they had a few targets and nothing high profile. Adam Pearson explained it all clearly on radio Humberside a few weeks ago. They got two of their targets, Mannone and King.

The only fans who've got Mushroom treatment are those who live under a rock.

There was money available, we made a substantial bid for a player which was unfortunately rejected, Nick just didn't feel the need to spend that money, it was his choice.

I also said somewhere, that, like you, i'm a bit gutted we didn't sign a striker, but i don't know the ins and outs of the club, maybe they didn't want to come here.

I must live under a rock, i have no idea what 'mushroom treatment' means?? :p
I just wish we'd pulled off the Hammill signing, that would have been a cracker.

I don't see how anybody can say at this stage of the day that nothing is going to happen. Since it's Barmby choosing not to spend money because he doesn't think the right players are available how do we know for example that Wolves aren't going to surprise people by signing a couple of wingers then give us a call saying they've changed their mind about our bid for Hamill? Or that someone else in the PL isn't going to sign a striker or two and suddenly be offering one around that isn't available yet.

I was thinking that. I can't see anything happening with it until the loan window though. If AP thought there was a chance, he wouldn't have come out and so categorically stated what he has though, I reckon.

It's a word that comes and goes in usage depending on the cycle. The use of English uncapitalised is odd in that context too.

Bloody hell Theo, Dem_on is allowed an opinion without being attacked for it!
There was a lot of talk about the size of the budget available before the window. The Daily Mirror quoted £1million but this was denied and changed to 'millions'.
I accept NB saying he didn't want to bring anyone in but there is enough reasonable doubt to question how big the transfer budget really was.

That crossed my mind too. And what if a bid came in for, say, Adebola (wishful thinking i know), is he saying we wouldn't accept a bid for him?

Keeping the players we had is as good as acquiring players has been in the past and has a cost attached.

So what IF nothing happens today ? The Loan window opens up next week. Only the PL have the pressure to get deals done and dusted by 23.00hrs today(11pm). I dont see much going anywhere that would have been a massive improvement to what we already have. NB knows what he is doing and the fact that Andy Keogh has been sold by Wolvers to Millwall must mean that Mad Mick wont let Hammill go now.

As for Billy Sharp. Hope it goes well for him down there. A new start in a new area as i mentioned a while back. He and his wife deserve some good luck. But as Sharp only has 10 goals so far thats only 2 more than our own Fryatt and Koren. Only the future will tell us who made the right call. Adkins to sign him or Nick to not bother.

Adam Pearson and Mr Allam didn't get where they are today by being 100% "squeaky clean and angels of the truth" Theo, and if you believe every word they utter then you are in for a rude awakening in life.Nick would have to agree with any statement dictated by either of the other two , so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. By the way I like Adam Pearson and was happy he returned as for Mr Allam I know very little about him but am grateful he invested in the club...................BUT still don't hang on his every word.
