Well you have 27 there. Well you forgot to add in Kenny Rogers, Paul Rachubka and Charlie Taylor. Theres also 2 players i believe that are out on loan, we are more than likely to be covering a percentage of there wage as well
Erm read it correctly !! PRs wages are covered by his loan club and he has been unassigned a squad number, charlie is still on academy terms !!!! so are thompson and turner, as for buck rogers who knows !!!!!!! are you bates in disguise !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Marko you love me. Paul Rachubka came back from his loan so i'd assume we are paying for his wages now not the club he WAS on loan at. Im pretty sure taylor, thompson and turner ARE being paid by the club. I dont care in truth just wanted to point it out
Point being half the players were panic signings because Larry couldn't get hold of anyone he really wanted due to lack of financial backing, which Bates then used to fuel his argument that "Grayson picks the team" and "Grayson signed those players, we just gave him the money".
Thats where your wrong i think. Both Bates and Grayson have admitted that a budget is allocated to Grayson and he decides what to do with it, no matter how small or large that is, he could've gotten decent players just by shifting some of the deadwood. I refer you to my post on the Leeds v Birmigham match thread where i said if we got rid of all the players that will never play for leeds again assuming they get an average wage of 5k a week (which its probably more like 7 or 8) then we'd have around 2.5m to spend
arent most of our players on academy wages? thats y they are leaving! I read somewhere that howson was on 4000 a week and we only offered a 400 quid wage rise
One problem is some of the "dead wood" was originally signed be larry anyway and are so ****ing terrible no one would take them. People forget, you can't shift a player unless 1 he wants to go and 2 you find a club to take him. Probably a third of our squad are of little use to anyone. The point though is they were all Larry signings.
So he would have only been on £4400 a week............................I think footballers need to wake up and realise that we are all struggleing with wage cuts or no pay rises. The boom years are over and more clubs are going bust trying to compete with their greedy wage demands
Travelling back on the train from the Arsenal game we sat next to 2 Arsenal season ticket holders who pay £1800 for the cheaper area of the ground, they said the seats in the expensive area on the halfway line were £25,000 a year and you have to put 4 years payment up front. Dont forget its the fans who pay the players wages not the chairman, and I for one think £4000 a week and being offered a 10% pay rise is more than enough for a player in a mid table team in the second tier on the football league.
Any deadwood signed by Larry, I still believe were panic signings that were 2nd, 3rd or even 4th choices, with maybe the odd duff, which happens for any manager. Once they are on the books they are difficult to get rid of because no one wants them, and if he can't get rid of them Bates won't let him sign new players. These deadwood signings are all on long contracts because odds are even they refused to sign unless they were offered long contracts so they could secure their future, to the detriment of Leeds United. It has snowballed over the course of Grayson's tenure and he's basically been forced into this position by financial constraints that don't need to be there. That budget should be at least 7 million more, but that 7 million got spent on a ****ty stadium improvement that no one wants or needs.
