With the olympics looming over the country, just thought i would start a thread regarding possible City players being picked for the squad, bearing in mind none of the Euro 2012 england squad will be available and Stuart Pearce is only allowed to pick 3 aged over 23 players, this could help our cause to get the Tigers represented in the Olympic games.

Favourite would be Corey Evans if Pearce wants to have an even selection on nationals in the squad, current international and also under 23 so fits the criteria

If he wants to go with some youngsters then Cameron Stewart could be in with a shout, as an U20 international for England it may be a good move to give him some tournament experience.

Tom Cairney is also a possibility as a Scottish U21 player

Joe Dudgeon is also a possible name to throw in the hat, although he isnt a regular for the Northern Ireland u21 team.

Liam Cooper, scottish U19 but will probably be overlooked.

    Thoughts please.

Cameron Stewart is a possible, should get a call-up soon from either England or Scotland u-21's if their scouts are doing the job right and meets the criteria, can't see Cairney making it. Corry Evans has a good chance if he is still under -21 being a national team player, in fairness Pearce will have to pick some players from each nation so why not.

I don't think any of them stand a chance. The squad is only going to be 18 players, including the 3 players born before 1st January 1989.

They're bound to use the overage spots for commercial reasons as well as football. Beckham will be in, Giggs will be in. Possibly Scholes if he has a good 6 months, but they might go with Craig Gordon to give them an experianced keeper and a Scottish old head in there.

The remaining 15 places will be Gareth Bale (he is actually one of the young players for it) and either players Pearce has had with him at U21 level in the last few years or people who've made a name for themselves for one of the other home nations. You'll probably get Oxlade-Chamberlain as well, so with Bale, Beckham and Giggs and them being after a total of 18 players you're probably only looking at 2 more midfielders.

Oh, I'm going to go with Terry as an alternate senior. I don't know if the squad has to be named or not but if he's forceed out the Euros squad and then gets away with it I can see the FA telling Pearce behiind closed doors to take him to try and repair their image a bit.

I think the best chance we have is signing someone on the fringes of the probable squad before July.

Terry won't be considered for the Olympic team, not in a million years.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Chester. Does he miss the cutoff having just turned 23?

    He's Irish mate, not British.

Might make the Rep of Ireland team if they gave one though.

I don't even know what that means.

I hope it isn't some sort of fisting reference but it probably is.
