http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/story-15177776-detail/story.html? He has long been an admirer of Redknapp and revealed he tried to get the then-Bournemouth boss to manage Stoke more than 20 years ago. "I did try to get him before he went to West Ham," he said. "I spotted him early!
So there you go - the mystery finally explained - the missing link. 20 years ago Coates wants Redknapp, Redknapp says not on your nelly - BUT - why don't you have a look at my No1 disciple - ta rah - none other than Pulis. The rest as they say, is history
So you wish we never got to the Premier League, the knock out stage of a European competition or an FA Cup final? I can't believe how stupid some of our fans are sometimes!
We're all happy with the success, it's just the style of football, his attitude towards fans and his inability to accommodate players of flair in our team that we have a problem with. Apart from those little glitches we're all as happy as pigs in ****. Which is where we all might end up if our form doesn't turn around soon.
I'm not a massive fan of our current style either, but how does saying crap like "I wish we never had Pulis as our manager" help? I've had enough of this site, if it's not idiots coming on the Stoke forum giving it the big one and typing like a 5 year old, it's our own fans ignoring success and moaning none stop. You lot won't see me here anymore, good day and Up the Potters.
Oh hello - have a word with yourself - it was a joke you fool! But now you raised the standard **** mag literature supporting our undying love for the special welsh one lets get one thing straight! Any fukin manager with 90 million could have achieved what he has done! However (and I have said this many times) I dont think many mangers would have got us promoted and for that I dock my cap to TP! Now jog on and go back to one of those "lets all have a **** over TP sites" with all those NEW stoke city fans - cause the original ones certainly aint aat the Brit every week!
R U F C ?? Let's get something straight here.. this is a forum.. I don't like Tony Pulis simples.. I'm pleased he has done well for Stoke City. A team I have supported for decades. I HATE with a passion the way he T.P. set's up our team. Yep, OUR team, week in, week out to defend especially away from home. He NEVER when interviewed say's STOKE CITY. It's always this football club. HOW I wish that someone like Lou M or Tony Waddington was still with us. They both had us playing open attractive football end of.... GIVE me that any day of the week.. Tony is slowly but surly killing the heart and soul of this fantastic football club... You don't need to take my word for it R U F C. Just listen to the comments around the ground on match days... Everyone coming home, totally peeeed off! ?? NOTICE how Harry Redknapp has thanked HIS fans? Tony KEEPS asking YOU, ME and evey Stoke fan to get behind the team... I sang my freeking head off last week. And like the rest of the loyal Stokie's I froze my nuts off.. For what?? No passion, negative approach the last few home games. I WII always SUPPORT the TEAM but NOT because Tony Pulis TELLS me to do that. Swansea? playing most of the Prem teams off the park, that team cost almost nothing compared to the money T.P. has had. Why is it that we can not put half a dozen passes togther every week... I will be leaing the forum the end of the season, because of the abuse WE the STOKE fans get... who's fault is that? NO offence intended R U F C. If you leave, that's your'e choice and good luck to you!
I wish people would get over this "Europe" crap. We did not qualify on merit - we achieved our lowest Premier League finish and qualified because Man C were already in the Champions League. While the Final was a great day out, we managed one shot on goal - talk about exposing your own weaknesses on a grand stage? A one off game and again we played as if 1-0 was a good result? Please RUFC, have a look at the here and now - where is the creativity, where is the next goal likely to come from, where is the never say die attitude? Bury your head in the sand, and keep thinking about where we were, not where we are likely to be, if TP's negative approach continues. I am travelling to Crawley next week, wondering if we will make a complete laughing stock of ourselves - but already I can hear the Valencia games being lined up as excuses- what is our most likely route to a cup final, playing a Division 2 team for a place in the last 8, or Spain's 3rd best team for a place in the last 16? If TP does not inject some "go" into the current performances (this is after all his job)- we will have nightmares about this February for years to come.
Hi Swervy, sorry to contradict you mate, BUT we qualified for the Europa, on merit, because we were in the FA Cup Final. Not that we did much good there eh? Smithers, about with THOSE Pulis masturbatory sites - are they any good? Ah - 2 - 0 down as I type - nothing new there then!!! Do you know, I actually think that we have a very good chance of going down this season, usually, after Christmas, one team drops like a stone, this year it is US at the moment. What a waste of a great start. I honestly don't know what made Pulis screw it all up.
Hiya Nick - are you back from Portugal? Don't want to be pedantic, but reaching the Cup Final only qualifies you if you win, or if the other side has already qualified for the Champions league - I am not prepared to let the Welsh Wizard claim that as part of his master plan!
Spot on to be fair. From what i read over various forums it does seem to be the new sets of Stoke fans that think Pulis can do no wrong and yet the older ones myself included that remember when we actually played football that are currently unhappy with the way things are. I completely agree that any half decent manager with the backing of the Coates family could have brought us this far and to be honest I think even further!
