You're missing the point - I'm not saying that a Top 4 manager from 2008 could have done it, I'm saying managers at any mid-table side could have done it. Do you honestly think that Moyes or O'Neill, to name but two managers would have been unable to move Spurs up the table?

Why would they have left their clubs for a club that was then in turmoil?

Harry Redknapp deserves a great deal of credit and it's very sad that you already want to get rid. I thought we Newcastle fans were the ones wanting to call for managers' heads etc.

At the time, Villa were starting to sell players under O'Neill to reduce their wage bill (which saw him quit a couple of seasons later), whilst Everton's tight purse strings are well known - those are certainly reasons they would have listened to an offer.

A recent poll on here showed that 70% wanted Harry to stay, your argument is based on lack of information.

5 Goals 1 Hat Trick 11 Heroes-NUFC4LIFE parades around here like an unemployed expert, with a high opinion of himself, its rather comic but then again if he is sad enough to camp on here and get enjoyment out of annoying people, then i feel sorry for the lad so let him stay.

This was my first visit to this board and the first 3 comments I read were 'Arry out.

I never said all of you want him out? I have no qualms with the people who want him in, but it's amazing that 30% of your fans want him out and highly fickle.

What happened to that annoying and crying chant : "Harry Redknapp, we want you too stayyyy :emoticon-0106-cryin "

The longer it was gonna drag on the bigger your chances were of demotion to the second tier.

7 Games in this season, Arsenal were 15th, they didn't do to bad now did they ?

Our team was too good to get relegated. Where as yours...

We were never in danger of relegation our goal difference told you that. BTW Harry has just had a worse run of games in the current season and we finished 4th. You are talking about something you don't understand as you are not a Spurs supporter and presumably don't spend as much time studying Spurs as we do.

You know as much about Spurs as I do about Newcastle and that is precious little. The difference is I am not on the NUFC board telling them what their opinions should be.

You were never in danger of relegation? OK , acceptable.

But you weren't exactly on the cusp of CL qualification either.

We were before Jol was sacked and Ramos brought in. We missed 4th because of food poisoning and were 5th before that. Despite what Harry would have you believe we have been knocking on the door for a number of years now Ramos was the blip.

Knocking on the door is one thing, actually doing it is another <ok>

Ramos was signed to replace Jol, who we just missed out on champions league football with so essentially it was all set up for challenging for the champions league but if you understand football, you will understand how negative and destructive a manager can be to the team if he gets it wrong.

Would AVB have won the champions league this season? of course not yet a manager deemed to be not as talented, with less experience and just an "assistant" decided to do the simple things and the team responds.

This is what arry is superb at, going to a club, doing the simple things well and galvanizing the team yet like most managers they have a honeymoon period were results changes, the team responds and they climb the table, o'neil at sunderland is another example.

Any decent manager with an understanding of the english game would have got our season back on track, which is why its rather OTT to be talking about us being relegation candidates as that wasn't the case.

In fairness I know Spurs fans who've wanted Redknapp out for quite a long time, it's not like this has just transpired overnight. It seems to be quite a consensus as well.

I can see where they're coming from tbh. I have absolutely no idea what Redknapp was doing in January. They were in 3rd place with the potential to really kick on with a good signing or two in January or failing that just keeping the squad together. Instead he got rid of Pienaar and Pavlyuchenko and replaced them with Louis Saha and Ryan Nelsen who couldn't even get in their own respective teams' starting XIs. They had 3rd place absolutely sewn up or at least they should have, then won 1 in 11 games, many of which they should have been winning comfortably. Unbelievably poor stuff, Redknapp needs to go in my opinion if they want to reach the next level.

Not to mention that Redknapp is a ****er and hugely embarrassing for the club's reputation. A modern day football manager illiterate ffs <laugh> not to mention extremely dodgy despite the court verdict going his way, and he's always making an arse out of himself in press conferences etc.

we weren't fighting relegation ffs. It was 8 games into the season!

The season before Harry we won the carling cup
The season before that we finished 5th
The season before that we also finished 5th

Since Harry we have finished (Harry's full seasons):
    4th
    5th
    4th

Harry has done a decent job, but to say he made us into a top 4/5 club is wide of the mark. Apart from the Ramos debacle we've been there for a number of years.

4th is a cracking result imo. To not get CL football due to Chelsea is just pure bad luck and not really Redknapp's fault. I know you guys were well ahead of Arsenal at one point but I think the whole England manager situation was just an unfortunate blow to your form which resulted in the slip into 4th.

For those wanting him out, it's a case of better the devil you know, in my opinion. Get rid of a manager if he's getting results well below expectations, but not when he's merely slightly underachieving by the standards of some who are hard to please. There's always a very real risk of a new manager not living up to expectations, and as a new manager often needs time to get the respect of the dressing room and make the team his own, you may find that the following season is a write-off before it's even started.
