    I'm not Portuguese.

Portugal is in a terrible state due to many, many factors.Luckily the Brits save the day as usual.

Or is it because you're actually a douchebag? Hmm? Have a little think about that one, Adam.

You live in Portugal though? Therefore you are a citizen of Portugal.

But you have just reiterated my previous point.

Erm, I'm pretty sure most people that have reasonably long conversations do indeed pause, either for effect or to catch breath.

As much as I may try to rattle off everything I have to say with no pauses for breath or emphasis, it doesn't always work.

Sometimes, yeah. I can also change the pitch of my voice to denote certain things, which I can't do with typed text.

Yes,of course you have to pause to take a breath, but if you were to say "I want to eat Grandma" you'd just say it like that, you wouldn't say "I want to eat (pause) Grandma".

You'd either pause or change the tone/pitch of your voice, in general.

No, but you'd accentuate "eat" in the latter, and "Grandma" in the former.
