Maybe because more priority was on the "Hamilton in" Saga.
The "Michael leaving statement" will come afterwards.. maybe in Japan.

So all this talk by Lauda: "I'm not going to work for Mercedes./Lewis will drive for McLaren."

    Lies, all lies by NL!

    Eddie I only trust!

Adamski thinks the Sauber line up will be Gutierrez/Alguersuari.

Also that, had they not netted Hamilton, Mercedes would have withdrawn, leaving the Brackley team to fend for itself again.

Brawn GP could of made a comeback then? From what I hae heard... AMG will be more involved in the running of the team rather than mercedes.

That has been mooted for a while I think, but that would on the sporting side, no? Mercedes will remain as the big money backer and that's what depended on Hamilton's signature. Perhaps the model will be similar to Fiat/Ferrari but with the Mercedes brand having a much bigger promotional presence than Fiat.

That makes sense, Slim will want a Mexican driver, and Alguersuari will bring Pirelli data.

The much wanted driver merry-go-round appears to be over as soon as it started?
    Lewis to Mercedes
    Schumacher to Retirement
    Perez to McLaren
    Algee to Sauber
Someone to replace Petrov at Caterham
    The rest stand at ease?

Equal status for Mercedes drivers next year.

I'm glad about that. Hamilton and Rosberg are friends and it doesn't make sense to back one over another from race #1. Also, I don't believe Hamilton really needs #1 status to shine. I don't think that's been his problem at McLaren.

Backing a driver who's ahead in the points long before the other can't mathematically win is good team management but dictating to one that he must be subservient to the other from the start of the season cannot help morale.

BBC's article on Hamilton's contract stated he had "unequivocally" been offered no.1 status.

Unfortunately I can't read the Autosport article because I have now reached my 50 free views for the month <grr> greedy feckers...

That's Autosports belief, nobody actually says that though.

Cheers for the link though genji.

If he's out ahead in points, he'll get the benefit of team orders even if he's not officially #1. Ross knows how that game works. ;)

I can't believe that limitation. Mine popped up with "10 views left" earlier. The more publications behave like that (e.g. The Times) the less inclined I am to visit them at all. It's a shame because Autosport's about the most dependable outlet there is. Does the BBC article still quote unequivocal #1 status? Benson's articles often have the speculation 'updated' out of them as the facts to contradict him become available throughout the day.

Here he is giving an interview to the BBC, however, saying that Hamilton lost faith with McLaren and they tired of his antics, like Twittergate. <ok>

If it has Eddie's name involved I'll believe anything now by him.
