....I was thinking today about how when we went up to the Premiership, we deemed certain players not good enough. I'm talking about Hammond, Barnard, Harding and Sharp.

Since then we have seen Davis dropped when he hadn't particularly played badly, saving 2 penalties and having a defence in disarray in front of him.

Now these players helped in some way to get us promoted either from League 1 or Championship or in the case of Hammond and Davis - promoted from both(Harding and Barnard didn't play much last season and Sharp only joined last season).

Hammond especially wasn't given a chance to do a job in the Premiership and although Davis has featured, in my opinion he hasn't been given a fair chance. Adkins decided that he should go and then farmed him out on loan. We all respected his decision because he is the manager and we trust him. We wished Deano well and thank him for his sterling efforts.

Our rise to the top doesn't just end at Adkins, there is obviously Reed and Cortese above Adkins and the Liebherr estate above them. Now as I said I do not want Adkins to go in anyway at all but if Cortese does, then it will be no different to Adkins telling Deano that he isn't in his plans.

I think that if Adkins stays that we will pull off the greatest escape ever and he will truely attain legendary status. But if Cortese makes the decision to remove him, who is to say it won't be the right decision. Many of us weren't too happy when he got rid of Pardew and look at us now. You use players, coaches and Managers to improve your position within the football hierarchy. There is no shame in not quite being good enough as long as you played your part, I for one will respect you.

We will probably never know if Hammond is good enough and if Adkins goes we will never know if he could have been the next Fergie. I would love for Cortese to offer him a long contract and stick with him, stability is the key for me and even if we went down and came straight back, we would still meet our 5 year plan, come on Cortese, you know it makes sense.

Hammond was already falling behind Morgan and Cork last season. Wouldn't play at all in the Prem just like Cahplow IMO. Would rather Hamond as cover than Chaplow though.

As for your title BUT...............Look below :)

My point is that right or wrong, we didn't reward him for helping us to get there, if Adkins does go, this would kind of be Cortese's equivalent of Adkins telling Hammond he's surplus to requirements.

Now let's hope that if there is a vote of confidence today, it is nothing like the usual dreaded vote and instead is a new contract for Adkins to show the world we really are different and mean business....how refreshing that would be!

Anything is possible in the crazy world of football, I'm still waiting for someone to recognise my Football Manager achievements and offer me the top job!

presumably cortese is interviewing gomachingin as we speak - after all he is omnipotent about all things football related so there can't be a better candidate? In fact, it is probably the existence of gomarchingin that led to adkins' iffy future in the first place ;)

You could easily play all three in the same team..I always preferred Hammond to Cork anyway.
