A telling quote from Steve today on TV "personally this was an important result for me too" ..you could say he s more concerned about his job than the club, but actually its shows a nice human touch, he knows he's in trouble, he s made mistakes, and like many people he s worried about his job.
ok. lets not get rid of him. give him ã50m this summer. lets end up 17th - if we are lucky. then ask ellis for 50m more. My opinion. Bruce cant do it. never been big time. Neither will we with him in charge. Simple question. How much will it cost to replace Bent this Summer? Wellbeck? Campbell? Do we buy Mensah? (NO) Muntari (NO) El-Mohammadi (yep) Ned (yep). Hope our owner is that charitable. WOULD YOU BE WITH YOUR OWN MONEY?
So he should be, there's probably 40k plus in Sunderland worried about their jobs and if they had applied similar to him to their own would be well gone. Alright living on reputation, I do as an ex boxer but some days you could blow me over but I don't get god knows what a year to pick and manage a team. ã55 a week for picking my girl up from the floor and caring for her and a 18month old child. Cruel ****ing world, and seeing the debris power mad whimps grovel to the public over the council elections, it's maybe better my mind is in my family. Great Britain = ****hole Ha' way the ****ing laaaads..
If i was a billionaire and owned Sunderland, i would give bruce 400 million to spend. (at least) but i am not, and its not my money he will be spending. If every player was fit, and we went on this winless run, then yes, i may very well be saying he isnt good enough, but he can do it, i am sure of it.
I wouldn't give him ã400 Steve, the mans a tactical nonentity and a bit of advice marra, never run a football club. Steve Bruce, chief scout, doorman, seems apt..
No mate, the problem has been the sale of Bent + injuries this time around. But we didn't sell Bent or have so many injuries last year as well. Y'see, I made excuses for him last season - they're Keane's players, give the lad a chance to build his own team, blah, blah. But then he built his own team, hit the problem you've mentioned, and couldn't solve that one either. How many lame excuses are we supposed to make for this fella? I wouldn't condemn the man for one. But it's adding up - that's my problem with him. Hit any problem - and most teams do at some time - and that's our season over. He has no solutions. I don't want Bruce to bring anybody in. I want him to join them where they are.
Hear ****ing hear Cutybuns..:headband: Does anybody watch a game at the SoL or does anybody actually go..
I picked up on that quote too. You can tell a lot from looking into peoples eyes and looking at his eyes during that interview you could tell he is under immense personal pressure. Does this mean that he has been given the "Gypsies Warning"? We will all have to wait and see.
It would be a mistake to sack him, we don't want to turn into them up the road going through managers faster than they have games to play. The situation we are in now is down to injuries and selling Judas without replacing him. We were doing well in the league until the new year. So I would give him next season. Bruce can look back and see the problems we have had and rectify them. If we sack him now we will have to pay compo, then find a new manager. That manager will then want to come in and build his own team. We wont move forward like that. Better off sticking with him for now. A win against wolves and we could be back into the top 10. Teams around us have hard games.
My word, I really wish people would stop taking about the clubs training policy and financial situation as if they were experts. Non of us know the real inside story so all this clap trap people keep posting about is having no money or a bad training policy is just hot air. Let's speed out efforts getting behind the Ladd and manager instead of talking bollox.
You cannot lay the blame for injuries at Bruce's door, Of course you can [and must] It's his door where "The Buck Stops" I,m happy with todays win and I think the timing of the O.P is innapropriate but if Bruce was managing in industry he would have been long gone.
Bobby have you *ever* had a happy day in your life? In 1973 did you complain because we only scored one against Leeds in teh FA Cup final?!
My views on Bruce are the same as 50% on here, he has taken us as far as he can in my opinion did well at Wigan not so well at Birmingham not so well with us. The injuries I can take if they are on the pitch but the majority have been training related as far as I can suss out which is unacceptable. If he goes then thanks and have a nice day, if he stays he'll be under even more pressure from game one so could be making the same mistakes again. If he is our manager he'll get the support of us all if only as SAFC boss, we all wanted him to succeed decent bloke, from up here and, that would mean we were successful as a club.
Long gone???? For what? Football is an industry and Sunderland are currently playing in the top 1% of said industry. Despite our horrific injury list we should still improve our position from last year! Slow, gradual, sustained improvement.
