That's alright then..my feathers are unfluffed. This is going to be a long summer with rumours of virtually every player leaving for pastures new, so I certainly want to hear nothing about NA or NC (shudder).
There will be rumours if there are people like us on these forums saying 'I heard this, I heard that etc...' It doesn't help...
This is not a rumour, just players on my wishlist. I would be delighted if we signed any one of the Burnley trio of Jay Rodriguez, Chris Eagles or Jack Cork, although Cork would likely to be on loan from Chelsea again. I'm not sure if Burnley are still getting parachute payments and need to sell, but every player has his price and they are the quality of player that could improve our squad.
I think we need a central defender to partner Fonte. Maybe someone like Andrew Davies who was brilliant when he was here before. A central midfielder - Neil Danns or maybe Danny Guthrie I think in this league you also need alot of striking options - I think Nathan Tyson would be good on a free, as he can play through the middle as well as playing wide left. Cover for Lallana and some much needed pace. Would like to see a centre forward with power and speed - Mackail-Smith seems like a realistic target or maybe James Vaughan who is available on a free from Everton, good age but maybe not proven to be prolific enough as yet.
Not sure what the obsession with Andrew Davies is. I know he was good for us, but since then he has been hampered by injuries and his career unfortunately has been generally on the slide after a very promising start. Olly Lancashire was touted as the next John Terry as a youth and look where he is now - Incidentally the same team that Andrew Davies spent a loan spell at this season.
We don't want Nathan Tyson, he is not prolific at all, he has scored very few goals in the Championship. Makail-Smith is unproven at Championship level aswell and James Vaughan may turn out to be a great player but as of yet his career hasn't really started, i'm sure there's a club that will give him the chance and he'll do very well but he's not the sort of player we need next season. We need to get a striker who is proven at this level but who also wants career progression (remember Lambert and Barnard in League 1) - for that we need to splash the cash. Two players that would fit the bill are Nicky Maynard and Billy Sharp.
CMS and Lee Barnard are very similar players with the exception that CMS has a bit more pace. They both work very hard, score goals and drop into the pockets of space that don't get picked up. Am I right that his contract with Posh is up this summer? There's no question about his ability and I'd rather have him giving 100% to prove himself than some overpriced big nob putting in half arsed performances believing he's God's gift to football. "Proven" doesn't really come into the equation for me. If they have talent and a willingness to prove it, that will do by me. Davis, Butterfield, Fonte, Jaidi, Harding, Lallana, Schneiderlin and Chaplow are already proven, Lambert and AOC will definately step up and others will fancy their chances.
In other news Ronald McDonald has been seen being escorted to Nottarf Krap to become there new owner! Rumour is he isn't happy about the deal and is 100% against it! Make of it what you will... http://www.idiotbrain.com/wp-content/ronald-mcdonald-is-arrested.jpg
I'd take CMS but I agree with Kingsland, Barney's been great this season so it would take something special for them to swap place imo. Would be a VERY exciting front-line however.
Did I read today that Pompey released 10 players this week? I find that very hard to believe.....where did they get 10 players from?
I did wonder st-brenda? Where indeed. Have no fears though, we'll still have enough to put another four past you (again)
That still will not beat the six we put past you though will it?........Sounds like it is going to be an open game........
fair point, but we need a 4th striker if Conolly is out for a long time. Could be anyone half decent really, just CMS was the first to come to mind for obvious reasons.
