Even Brighton fans don't like him. When he came on for them against us at home all he did was throw himself to the floor and moan at the ref or his team mates. We've learnt with Puncheon we don't need players like that. I think CMS is well worth a go, I'd love us to go for George Boyd from P'boro as well
Neil Danns could be the experience that Adkins is looking for. He used to room with Fonte and their good mates so hopefully Jose can put in a good word
According to a trustworthy source Alex Chamberlain to Man Utd is a done deal. Contract is signed and everything. (From Matthew Le God on saintsweb)
If he did go, Man U would probably be his best option with Fergie liking to play with wingers and being on the bench straight away. It's probably rubbish though.
I pray it's rubbish!! I reaaaalllly want us to keep Alex next season to see how good he is for us in the npC.
I've just read on the Sky Sports website that The Sunday People has reported that we are interested in signing Jack Cork along with Blackpool and Burnley. If this is true, then I think that he would be a fantastic signing and we would surely stand a good chance of beating Blackpool, (after today's relegation) and Burnley to his signature, as we would be in a better position to afford his transfer fee and wages. I know this is only paper talk at the moment but what do you guys think? http://www.skysports.com/football/papertalk/0,21673,12709,00.html
He's got obvious talent, but he's too similar to Schneiderlin, and probably wouldn't want to play second fiddle to him. We all know Schneiderlin is quality so there isn't much point in trying to get him. Don't want 2 defensive midfielders in the centre of midfield...
I am fairly confident of keeping Chambo. He has been treated with nothing but respect and total care by the staff at Saints, would be a shame for him to sign for United if he just dissapears. I was going say that leaving means he moves onto bigger and better things but we are definitely a team going places on and off the field.
Jack Cork is pretty versatile and can play across the back as well as defensive and more advanced midfield. Don't think it would be problematic pairing him up with any one of our current CMs. Adkins will know him pretty well from when he was player of the year at Scunny. I'd be very happy to see him back. There's not much to choose between us, Blackpool and Burnley, so the Adkins connection could sway it if Chelsea don't want to rip us off. Getting a bit ahead of myself there, no-one knows what happens at St Mary's!
And even if Cork is more defensive theres no harm in that as we have two wingers with the defensive capabilities of fish! So we'd do well to play a 4-2-2-2 formation maybe with Guly a 4-2-3-1 Who knows!
Cork's a box-to-box player so he'd be ideal. On another note, I'm sure many of you have heard the Michael Owen rumours, and a poster on SaintsWeb has said Owen was DEFINITELY picked up from the airport and dropped off at St Marys by a local taxi company. I really just cannot see the deal happening myself, although I'd be delighted if it did.
If it did happen, it's probably just to start a rumour and throw people off the scent. Cortese does things on the quiet and probably uses trusted couriers to ferry people around. I doubt he'd hire a taxi who's driver is going to tell everyone "I took Michael Owen to St Mary's earlier". Big wages, often injured, past his best - Can't see it myself. Cortese and Adkins strike me as preferring the young and enthusiastic types.
English Marian Pahars! Funnily enough I read Owen Hargreaves, although this was obviously also made up.
I heard you would be making a bid for Danny ****tu as he is seen as being a natural fit with your current team..........
