Can see this going well <laugh>

So with the football season coming to an end very soon, we can all look forward (well a couple of us) to the impending antipodean test series against New Zealand and of course, the Old Enemy, the convicts. I predict that we'll win both series, the first test commencing tomorrow against the Kiwis. That's if we get any decent weather. What are your views, if you have any, on how we'll do?

Lancashire going quite well in D2 in second place <ok>

    Proper game <ok>
Think we'll have learnt our lesson and give the Kiwi's a bit more respect this time round in the build up to the Ashes series.
I hope we play the team that we plan on playing in the Ashes, get a confidence boosting series win before with take on the Aussies later on in the year!
For us to retain the Ashes, we need the bowlers to perform (our batting is pretty strong, esp. in home conditions), most of the Aussies coming over haven't played a Ashes series here, if the likes of Anderson, Flynn, Swann (and/or Panesar) and Broad are on form, then we'll retain the Ashes with ease, the Aussies have only got one class bat, Michael Clarke, get him out early and they rest shouldn't amount to much more!

If I did that, I'd be tarring myself with the same brush that the Luv and Gerrez use...

No one wants to do that!

    Lords.

Think the forecast is ok till Sunday so maybe not.

We'll win both series, the ashes by two or three tests.

If it was Australians against English players then Australia would murder them every time but England have improved a lot since they put them South Africans in their team and I think England will win in England and Aus will win in Aus.

Cricket is a game of the gods (and all their colonies <whistle>). Lads let's remember this is England...as much as we've all enjoyed the last decade of England actually being a damn good team we all know we are still capable of ****ing up any given match <laugh> I've watched the Aussies steamroller us enough times to never underestimate them. God I hope we turn up and absolutely hammer them.

Cooks form is vital as is keeping KP and JA fit. Can't wait to see Jimmy swinging those unplayable deliveries past the batsmen. Roll on summer <ale>

I'm with you RHC,looking forward to some lazy summer days watching Test cricket.

Especially the Ashes series. I'm not English or Aussie so enjoying from a neutral POV.

Minor point. We'll beat them over there too. The convicts are a pale shadow of what they were. We beat India in India. The convicts got whirewashed <ok>

Won the toss and batting... Really? In these conditions, fair bit of cloud cover with fair bit of wind I'd have bowled first..
The track at Lords is pretty decent and doesn't get worse over the course of the match so just don't understand the logic of batting first (oh well, its the modern trend I guess... but still don't like it, play the conditions!!)

Bit surprised we've elected to bat unless the overhead conditions are different than in Manchester
Would've thought it was a case of throwing the ball to Anderson to get amongst them while there must be moisture in the surface and a swinging ball?

You don't have to come on here you know. That's why I started a thread so I didn't start derailing others. As you can see, there are a few people who actually like cricket and it will keep the board moving (if slowly) during the closed season. I can only stand so much about transfers <ok>
