What were your favourite boots when you were a kid ?

Just for a laugh I thought I'd ask what were or are your favourite football boots when I first started playing I had the usual timpson top dogs or winfield wonders ( Woolworth ) stop laughing! Then when I got a bit older and didnt want me mates taking the piss when I sheepishly got them out of me bag lol I got bought a pair of Patrick Lima they were black with the two white stripes now I thought I was rivellino when I put these on ( played like ravioli) then straight to dixon sports to get the aluminium screw ins coz they made more noise when you walked on concrete etc and used to clean them all the time and rubbed dubbin in them to keep them supple and stuffed them with paper ,personal choice but I can't stand all these new coloured boots I think they should be black and that's that !

 

I always wore rugby boots, dunno what brand they were. I wore them for three reasons:

1 - I spent a lot of time in goal for my club, and they gave you a **** load of power through goal kicks

2 - The extra pair of studs gave better grip on the waterlogged welsh pitches

3 - they were so heavy duty I never came out of a challenge worse off

 

Well always played Gaelic footy and the standard all round boots for Gaelic were Puma Kings. Always had a pair of Puma kings right up to only a few years back. Need to get back playing again

 

I'm afraid I wasn't privileged enough to own decent football boots as a kid, so I was stuck with the horrible Gola and Umbro cheapies from JJB. Woefully ill-fitting, terribly designed, no wonder everyone thought I was s***

By the time I was 16 I was earning, so I bought myself some flashy gold nike astro-turf boots which didn't really elevate my standards to the highs I imagined, but it made me feel like a world beater putting them on. Ended up using them as pretty decently viable curling boots, and won a local comp with them on...

 

Having to wear cheap Golas could put children off football. Can remember the blisters I used to get on my feet with them

 

I had some flash looking diadora boots. Black with uv yellow trim. Pity my skills were less flash. I made shola look like roberto baggio.

 

Who was it that used to play barefooted?

 

Adidas Samba?

 

class thread lol.. yep I got the cheapies aswell .. id say Patrick was the best pair I got bought ..for Christmas of something .

my lad laughs when id say ..I had rubber stud boots ..then when the studs got worn doon ..they became my trainers ..times were hard lol ..being a miners son in the strike ..and i aint complaining


the boots i wanted were adidas litbaski or something but i never got them..

 

Shearer's Umbro's as a kid,
Predators as a teen, made me feel i could curl metal if i wanted

 

they were trainers m8 ..maybe for the indoors five a side .. good and hard wearing i must admit

 

Lol when your rubbers wore doon they became you new trainers this is so true can you imagine saying that to your kids these days " mind when them wear down your using them as trainers " bang ,said boots stotted of dads heed

 

aye ..they were the days m8. holes in the arse of trackie bottoms ..handy downs ..it happened ..

kids nowadays spoilt .. i try and get my son to earn his new boots .. but deep down its good to see him git something he enjoys ,and what i didn't git .. gives me a good feeling ..
