Some good news (taken from the journal)...

Newcastle United have negotiated an option to buy Loic Remy in the loan agreement struck with Queens Park Rangers over the summer.

Remy has made a sensational impact at St James’ Park since making his close season move from West London and scored twice as Newcastle fell to defeat against Hull.

It built on a fine full debut against Aston Villa and was further justification of United’s long pursuit of the striker.

The Journal understands that, while United will steer clear of publicly declaring their intentions on Remy, the club view the deal as more than just a season-long loan deal and made provision in the initial deal to broker a permanent move in the summer if it suits all parties.

A fee has been pre-agreed and United would have first option to buy if both the player and Newcastle want to make the deal permanent.

That is standard practice for Newcastle with every loan deal they negotiate and would put United in pole position in the summer – although it would not be a guarantee the deal would be done.

Joe Kinnear’s programme notes over the weekend name-checked QPR and have been interpreted in some quarters as an admission the player will go back to Loftus Road if Harry Redknapp manages to lead his team back into the top flight.

However, it is more a case of the club wanting to be respectful towards the player’s parent club and they do not feel it is appropriate to be pushing the prospects of a permanent deal.

Before concluding a deal in the summer United wanted to assess the desire of the player to make a success of his move to the North East but those questions have been blown away by his immediate impact at St James’ Park.

United will be looking to repair the damage of the Hull City defeat against Leeds tomorrow night and Remy may be rested, with Shola Ameobi in line for a recall if he recovers from a knock.

Fabricio Coloccini revealed there was an angry reaction in the dressing room after the club let victory slip through their fingers. He sasid: “If we want to be serious about being in the top 10 or look to bigger things or be a big team in the Premier League we have to start to take the chances we have.

“If not we are going to have problems. We do not want to be like we were last season.

“So we have to look at our mistakes and keep going. When we have chances to beat teams like Hull we have to take them.

“We have to learn. Now we have to look to Leeds, get the win and go through in the cup.”

Meanwhile, Hatem Ben Arfa has said he is “100 per cent” committed to Newcastle despite interest from French clubs in the summer.

United’s playmaker was linked with Liverpool, Paris Saint Germain and Monaco over the close season but has always maintained he wanted to stay on Tyneside.

Ben Arfa said: “There was contact this summer but what was important was to stay in Newcastle.

“The club has confidence in me, I need to take a lot of experience.

“Here there is everything you need.”

Now I just need the news to filter in that Pardew's deal has a break-clause and it's a happy Tuesday.

In all seriousness, very good news. I really like Remy, I think he's a top player. Just wish we had a better CF alongside him.

Colo is bang on with those comments. The players have to take a look at themselves and ask are they ready to commit to the cause week in week out.

    Semi good news.

This is an important point: A fee has been pre-agreed and United would have first option to buy if both the player and Newcastle want to make the deal permanent.

If we wish to sign Remy in the summer, it will be because he has done well for us. If he does well for us other teams will be interested. Most teams will be willing to offer more in wages/player & agent signing fees than NUFC. What has Remy done in the past when offered a choice between joining NUFC or earning more £££ elsewhere?

I like to remain positive - vain hope is all we have as NUFC supporters - and I don't wish to needlessly dampen a rare moment of enthusiasm, but I would be completely unsurprised if he were to end up playing for a team like Liverpool next season.

Isn't there the small matter of a legal case pending against him?

It is good news that there is a buyout clause. It of course does not mean he will sign but provided we treat him right, he plays well and we do well then he will most likely sign.

The court case will be settled before we offer such contract anyways so I wouldnt worry about that.

He looks a tidy player and he has confidence. Something that Cisse clearly does not have.

But herin lies the problem and the main reason why I think we lost against Hull.

Cisse need the right type of service and plays best (IMO) with a striker next to him.

HBA can provide that from an AMC position. HBA has no interest of tracking back, which puts incrediible pressure on Debuchy. The weak link and the clear target for Hulls play was Debuchy but in fairness to him he no cover.

I would be more inclined to put Cissoko out on RM and play something like this:

    Remy Cisse

    HBA

    Anita Cabaye Sissoko

Defence as per normal, Anita and Sissoko could not be out and out wingers and play a more narrow direct play. Anita and Sissoko have the engines to help out the defence and then as the game progresses and legs get tired we can bring on Jonas and Tiote for Anita and Sissoko to maintain the cover.

If the game is tough one you could drop HBA for Tiote and then bring on HBA after half time when we are still in the game when the opposition is tired.

    Meh, ive gone off topic.

    Remy is class.

Can't see that formation working; too much reliance on Santon and Debuchy to provide width, meaning our play will become very narrow and clustered.

I'd say the fee was no more than £7m as the £2m loan fee is taken into account in cases like this.

Should be £6 million on the basis of what Redknapp said.

If Remy deal is pulled off, we should look for loans more than purchases in the future.

Our best signings would've been Remy and Ben Arfa, both loans with options to buy.

Colo can say what he likes. The reason for the anger is that a number of players simply went missing against Hull... But at least they didn't **** off to Argentina for months <ok>
