Twitter has gone on a mad one. Villa apparently made £1.5m enquiry for wes. I sincerely hope we tell them where to stick it.
As I've said previously, bring in someone significantly better first, and then another central midfielder, and then maybe consider it. And still only sell at rip-off prices. Twitter seems to reckon Villa want Pilks too, and are after Steven Defour.
Really can't see us selling Wes now unless we have someone line up to take over that role and even then I doubt it would happen until the end of the season. Pilkington is really a mystery, his contract ends in the summer, albeit with a clause to extend a year but I think that has to be mutual and i do wonder if he is stalling and if he is we would most likely look to seek now. Hughton was asked about this fairly recently and gave a pretty cryptic answer: Sounds as though the clubs are worried about injuries which may have lead to a lower contract or no contract having been offered yet. I do think it would be a shame to loose him as he is one of our best players however he struggles to play a full season and that been true since we bought him. I also think if he is going more than just Villa will be interested, I know Pardew like him.
I could well see Pilks leaving due to concerns over his injury record, and then him go and play nearly every game next season for another Prem side and make us all feel very sick.
I can't see why City would sell any players. £1.5m for Wes is ridiculous. I've never heard of a 2-way extension option and City would be hopping around now if that was true. Given that we were still making sizable bids for players at the end of the summer window, there must be money available for strengthening now without anybody leaving, as there are at least 3 squad places available now.
It seems that Abdisalam Ibrahim has scotched the story about him being in Norwich on Twitter, so we can forget about that one.
He doesn't have to be in Norwich for something to happen, though I agree it may be much ado about nothing.
I guess this counts as transfer gossip, but I've had a friend telling me today that he's heard (and I think it's only through twitter) rumours that the club have actually appointed a new, more attack-minded, coach to work with/under Hughton? Anyone see an unfamiliar face on the touchline, or heard something similar?
That would be great if true. Look at fulham, they have brought the mule ray Wilkins and curbishley It has helped them
As I said, no idea how accurate it is, I can't even find so much as a tweet discussing it to support the idea, so really no idea where he got it from.
Being linked with Gutierrez of Newcastle. http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/newcastle-united/transfer-talk/news/report-qpr-norwich-target-gutierrez_128426.html
Definitely no to Gutierrez. He's a complete donkey! Can't remember the last time he even played for Newcastle!
