Wycombe goal disallowed. Looked like a Carson error, but referee awards us a free kick. Our luck seems to be changing at last.
We have only gone and won it ! Three points at last ! A Pedro Mendes moment ? The Great Escape begins.... Alright, I'm getting carried away, but three points !
According to our commentators that's the best we've played for a while and we still can't get the ball in the net (well, legitimately). At this rate we'll be playing non league football next season.
Carson was fouled (don't know who by though) that's why the goal was disallowed. We've shot up (temporarily) to 17th. Are we going to go on a winning run now????
I think you will be safe Ron. Northampton/Torquay/York for the drop. You have got some good young players, I reckon you will be o.k.
From the radio commentary, it sounded like he marshalled the defence, talking to them all the time, and hardly missed a thing in the air. Will be an ideal captain for us. Played well alongside Joe Devera.
Once we've smashed Torquay (this statement could seriously backfire as we probably won't lol) we could rocket up to twelfth! What a difference a win makes when you're near the bottom of this league. I'd like to see us finish top 12 this season. Unlucky tonight, Ron. I just read the BBC match report, and it said: "Pompey were indebted to keeper Trevor Carson, who twice brilliantly denied Matt McClure either side of a save from Reece Styche's close-range effort. Shortly after the restart, Wes Fogden was tripped by Gary Doherty in the box and Taylor converted the spot kick. Wycombe pressed for a leveller with Fogden clearing off the line while Doherty had a late goal disallowed." It sounds like you were mightly unlucky tonight and for the first time this season we had a bit of luck. Good luck for the rest of the season and don't worry I don't think you'll go down. Most people are tipping Northampton to go down but they just got Chris Wilder so they have a chance! Torquay could go down, as could Bury/Mansfeild/Bristol Rovers. Portsmouth fans: do you think a top half finish this season followed by promotion next season is a realistic target? We're three pojnts off twelfth, and only six off eighth Then again, we're only a couple of points off the relegation spots (this is a cray league!). There's a huge gap after that, to Burton in the play-offs.
We are playing Torquay at home next Saturday, so as long as we maintain the momentum, and carry on riding our new found luck, another three points could be up for grabs. You do your bit and bury Bury, and Voilà , it's good news all round
