Leicester City have completed the signing of former Crystal Palace midfielder Neil Danns. The 28-year-old, who was a free agent after leaving the Selhurst Park club at the end of last season, has agreed a three-year contract. City beat off competition from several sides to lure him to the Walkers Stadium, including Scottish Premier side Rangers. Danns scored eight goals in 38 games for Palace last season. This according to the BBC sport site. Was beginning to wonder if he would sign for anyone never mind the TIGERS !! UTT CTID !!
Great signing for them. Always had a feeling this one wouldn't happen. I'm suprised he didn't go to Rangers though. So much for wanting to play in Europe.
Danns and Schmeichel signed today maybe more. We will be making alot of signings over the next 10 days so Jack Hobbs deal will go through soon
Looks like Danns was lured by the players Leicester are bringing in and the wages they offered him. We could never compete with them.
I know some people scoffed at Celtic and Rangers the other week but I think they are a massive draw to any player who isn't quite good enough for the EPL. For Leicester to have taken Danns when they wanted him is a big sign of intent. They've either shown him big money, big ambition or both.
I suspect it was a combination of being offered over £15k a week and seeing the other players they're being linked with.
It's a decent signing for Leicester I suppose, but I said a few weeks ago I wouldn't be gutted if he didn't sign. Midfield isn't a priority, we have Evans, Cairney, Barmby, Oli, Bullard, Chester (at a push), Harper, Ghilas and Koren who can all play there in some capacity. Our priority should be getting a goalkeeper in. Then a right winger, then the other positions.
Wellens or Abe would be fine. But like I said, it's not a position that really needs addressing is it? Goalkeeper please!!!!
