The main use of a degree that isn't vocational is to get an interview. That's pretty much it. You're a bright and personable guy. You'll be fine, whatever it says on a piece of paper tomorrow.
I don't know, I should really get onto that. Figured I might as well try for permanent positions at first just to see what would happen.

Sounds like there are some pretty serious riots brewing in St Louis tonight after that kid Michael Brown was shot dead by police in Ferguson a few days back.
Doesn't really contribute to the atmosphere when the protests are surrounded by snipers with their weapons trained on the crowd. Turns out that people with guns pointed at their heads tend to get a bit angsty.
Yeah I've read that the police are harassing the protestors, and attacking them. Hell I've just read about a black journalist having tear gas thrown at him by police...
Two more journalists (at least one black, go figure) appear to have been arrested, with one beaten, for failing to vacate a McDonalds quickly enough.
...and here's the first-hand account, which is now front page news on the Washington Post. http://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...l?Post generic=?tid=sm_twitter_washingtonpost
I hope the riots aren't just using the Michael Brown shooting as an excuse. Can't help but feel the riots in Tottenham a couple of years ago were just taking a similar situation as a convenient excuse.
There may be an element of bandwagon rioters, but people there (including media) have also stated that many of the outbreaks of 'rioting' have been precipitated by the police lobbing tear gas and firing rubber bullets with little to no provocation. Turns out that any crowd turns into a riot when you do that, which is a great justification to have more cops playing soldier lobbing more tear gas.
Christ. Pretty solid police work, then. Let's just hope whoever sent the order to start lobbing tear gas gets fired for it.
