No mate, it wasn't in truth. He went down easily, no doubt, but the fact is Roberge had a hold of his arm, however briefly, and that's classed as a foul/obstruction. It was soft as ****e, but letter of law he did impede the lad.
I saw 50+ decisions in and out of the box in the same game with more contact and no foul given. The commentator was waiting of the ref brandishing a yellow for the dive! I saw hundreds worse in the live games which didn't even get a free kick. It was never a penalty IMO.
Like I say mate, soft as pish, but it wasn't a million miles from a pen either way, by letter of law as I say, and the question was 'was it that big an outrage' It wasn't.
I don't post on here very much any more but quite often pop in for a read. Love stats like this and really appreciate the effort that went into it. Cheers!
How about a sticky thread with average stats for all the players, updated after every game. It'd be interesting to keep tabs on average fouls for Catts or average pass accuracy for Rodwell for example. It would probably help to give a clearer picture on who is actually good and who isn't over the course of the season rather than just what people feel from game to game.
Just opinions Nads - I think it was never a penalty when you look at the Fletcher one by Olsen which was far far worse and he got a free kick given against him. Maybe in the strictest rules of the game but there was a minimal amount of contact. As I say, there were hundreds of others inside and out of the box in our game and others that I saw this weekend. If you even it up and give the same for both sides then fine, but when you give it to only one team in that situation then bottle it for the away team then it's not a penalty in my book.
